Guest guest
Chitlins are boiled pig intestines, there supposed to be " washed " but the still smell like poo, (to me) but there not cleaned like they are for sausage casings. Those I can handle no prob. I used to refuse to eat " Bambi " too, but then we was so broke one time n didnt have any food, so a friend came over and said I brought something for you and the kids to eat, I butchered my pig, however I brought the very best part and this is how I would like you to cook it please. So I did, Man it was good, later when the kids went to bed he told us it was Venison, I told him I knew it wasnt pork, but thought maybe it was beef, he said he told us that cause he knew I wouldnt eat it otherwise, and if Mom wouldnt eat it neither would the kids. When we lived in Florida my hubbies brother cooked us some Maui-Maui, it tasted so good and it didnt taste or look like fish, I asked him what the name ment he wouldnt tell me until there was only 1 piece left and I was headed towards it so he told me it was " blue dolphin " Thinking I had Just eaten flipper I fliped out and bawled and cried and was so MAD he ad tricked me, the next day I seen on a nature show what " blue dolphin " was ....Needless to say I eat Blue Dolphin alot now...lol  Want to understand the Bible better?  FREE  studies.  For more info Just ask! ________________________________ To: " sproutpeople " <sproutpeople > Sent: Saturday, June 9, 2012 3:56 PM Subject: Re: animal foods that are strange or even more strange.  I knew what the RM Oysters were and I have heard them called " sweet breads) and always has the " s " on it. and was such a change from what I thought sweet breads would be. I think that is the southern term for them. I am not quite sure what chitlins are but the fried pork skin may smell bad but I sure used to like the taste and so I'm not sure that chitlins are the same thing or not.  know people eat pigs feet but that never appealed to me. I know some eat pigs ears too, on sandwiches. Maybe if they fry them enough they are like the pig skin and we eat those.  My husband was in the ines for about 11 years and there they would BBQ the family pet if someone special came for dinner. They might have a pot bellied pig or a dog. Cats were too greasy and too boney. But they would eat dog and he liked it. It was funny hearing him talk of giving them a warm home - about 350 degrees. Sounds terrible to us. I know here in FL they criticize eating horse but yet what s the difference between that and a cow? We have become far removed from the animals that are considered food. I can understand why some don't eat any meat at all. I always though it was terrible to kill Bambi's mother or father. I have eaten venizen and it tastes good. But I think of being small and bawling my eyes out because Bambi's mother was killed and it was his " mommy " . I had half the people in the theatre crying and all saying, " the poor little thing " as I bawled. We sent my daughter to =her room when we were seeing the Sea turtles race to the sea after being born and with all the birds above. However, we didn't think anything about it when the party were trying to escape before a strm at the south pole and one guy wrote in his journal and then went off into the white wilderness and my daughter started to cry because he was going to die. I had no idea she would even catch onto that. I barely did. He knew he was holding the party back because of his frostbite on his feet so he decided not to slow them down anymore and walked off into the white air. Kids are a lot smarter tan we think and at young ages. Might have seen that before the turtles and knew she couldn't see that. Guest guest
, your story about dolphin took me WAY back to when I was in DisneyWorld with my husband about 30 years ago. We were in one of the Restaurants (with an A Frame). Now don't ask me why I know this (about the A frame but it just came to me, lol) Anyway, we were looking for a nice restaurant and I saw a sign in the lobby of one and the sign said 'We serve Dolphin " . Well, I was never so incensed as I was that day. I marched into the restaurant demanded to speak to the manager and guess what popped out of my mouth? " HOW DARE YOU KILL AND SERVE FLIPPER " I swear I actually said this. The poor guy looked at me and said " What?? " We didn't kill Flipper, why on earth do you think we killed Flipper? " Then Alan comes to my side and he's dying of embarrassment. I turned to him and said " They kill Flipper in this place " The manager is saying 'Lady, there is no Flipper in this place " . I take him over to the sign and I said 'Well, then explain this " Whereupon he bursts our laughing (thank god) and he gently said: " Lady, DOLPHIN FISH, DOLPHIN FISH " Since I had absolutely no idea what he was talking about I said as much. I said 'What the heck (didn't say heck) is Dolphin Fish " ? I then got an education that Dolphin Fish is not Flipper. Thank you very much. lol Mel
