Guest guest
I don't have anything sensitive on my tablet. I only go to my forums. I will do NO banking business or any purchases. And I do know the person who is letting me use her wi fi. She lives upstairs and I've known her for 17 years. So that part is fine. I will eventually get my own router but right now I'm just learning. Never thought I could do this at my age. It's surprising when we learn that we can do ANYTHING!!! lol, Melody > > Just be aware that when you use someone else's wifi and it is unsecured, that it provides a means for others to get into your personal information that you haveon your tablet.  I do sometimes do that but have had problems once when I did. On your own wifi, that is different so long as you have a good password. Just be aware of that. Would be better if you knew whose you were using and got an okay but only if they gave you a password and they kept it secure. Do you know someone whose wifi you are picking up? See if they will let you use it or pay $5-10 a month for use. You can use wifi at hotels and Panera Bread, some Mc's, libraries, etc. but with the same risk. I have gone to Panera's in Michigan as can not get a phone line there as it is long distance. Same in Arkansas. I can get out on my iphone through the AT & T network which is direct. i don't know if there is any risk there or not. >  > Just talked to a woman where someone somehow hacked into her computer and snt ot things, including a directive to her investment company to transfer a bunch of money to a foreign account (they contacted her to see if it was legitimate) and sent info to her contacts and then deleted her contacts. I saw the message on Facebook. My iphone doesn'twork to well on Facebook. I have a G3. My husband has a Kindle Fire and can do email on that as well as have books on it. We have our scriptures on my iphone and on hi Kindle. Nice we don't have to carry heavy books to church as we are too old to carry heavy stuff. Do have to wear glasses to see the words. >  > Good luck with your tablet. It will be handy when you travel. Can keep in touch. Never use a debit card on line for purchases, only use credit card.  Can then cancel it and with debit they take it out of your account and you have to wait a long time to manage to get it back. My acquaintance has no clue how someone got into her computer from outside. > > Carolyn Wilkerson > > >  > > > ________________________________ > > To: sproutpeople > Sent: Saturday, July 21, 2012 12:19 PM > Subject: Re: Hi everybody. How's the sprouting going? > > > >  > > Let me tell you something. Thank god I have sprouting to de-stress me. Do you know how hard it is to learn Tablet Technology when you ONLY know computers and using a mouse. I don't own a smart phone, I don't text. I just have a nice computer, a nice keyboard and a mouse and I do just fine. But our future will be all wi fi so I know I have to learn it. Well, I got such a headache from trying to learn to do Tablets that I walked over to my sprout garden, looked at all the green stuff growing and just smiled. > > Those tablets are NOT going to get Melody!! > > lol lol lol > > Melody > > > > >
