Guest guest
what's with the " New projects for Melodie? "   And did you see the shoe pocket planter?  I think I am going to do that and attach it to my shed if there is enough sun there. I may put spearmint (if I can find some seeds) and peppermint and other herbs or little lettuces. I am going to mix peat and potting soil I think. I thoughtthat was a good idea. I will check aroun and see what I can find. If fabric, I can see it could rot over a year. With plastic, it could get hot and I'd probably have to put drainage holes in there. I was wondering if had anything like that. That might work for an apartment, Melody. It could  hang with 2 back to back oer a railing  or on the wall of a balcony. Needs a tray or trough at the bottom but could plant in that too and it would get water from above.  I was impressed with it. I also thought the idea of using the flushes to water sprouts or plants was an intersting idea but the water going into the toilet and just thinking about it in the bathroom wassort of a turn off but plants in bathroom would make the air quality better. Don't think I'd want them edibe though.  Carolyn Wilkerson  ________________________________ To: sproutpeople Sent: Friday, June 22, 2012 6:23 PM Subject: Re: New projects for Melody ( " OUT-House sprouters " ) lol  Well I just fell off of my chair (after seeing the Toilet Gardener). OMG, I could NEVER have any kind of sprouts in my bathroom. The thought alone, (and I don't care how clean the water in the tank is), to me, well it's GROSS. But I had to laugh when I saw " New projects for Melody " . ROFL. Guest guest
Carolyn, did you not see my post about using the shoe container? I am not where I can search for the message, but I will find it if you missed it-I advise against using a shoe pocket organizer...tried it with bad results on several levels-leaching chemicals, falls apart, and your herbs end up tasting and smelling like plastic (if fabric, very likely treated with flame retardants) > > > > > All the talk of " Alan's OUT-House " reminded me of THIS sprouter, the ultimate green-cycler: > > > http://www.instructables.com/id/Toilet-Tank-Bean-Sprouter/ > > > > > > and he has a variant: > > > http://www.instructables.com/id/Semi-Automatic-Hydroponic-PlanterSprout-grower/ > > > > > > and if that doesn't get you enough sprouts, this guy know what to do with a 10x20 nursery flat: > > > http://www.instructables.com/id/Toilet-Gardener > > > > > > Molly > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > >

Guest guest
Oh no, I thought it was such a great idea. I can see plastic could be a problem. Didn't think about the shoe bags being flame retardant. I thought that was only children's bed clothing.  I wondered about te weight of it but thought it could be mixed with peat. Darn, it looked like such a good idea. Carolyn Wilkerson  ________________________________ To: sproutpeople Sent: Friday, June 22, 2012 11:58 PM Subject: Re: New projects for Melody ( " OUT-House sprouters " ) lol  Carolyn, did you not see my post about using the shoe container? Guest guest
I couldn't do the shoe pocket thing anywhere in my home. I can't have water dripping on anything. If I had a balcony or a porch, I'd have tomato buckets all over the place (maybe one of those topsy turvey things). But for now, it's my shelves and that's it. lol Melody > > > > > All the talk of " Alan's OUT-House " reminded me of THIS sprouter, the ultimate green-cycler: > > > http://www.instructables.com/id/Toilet-Tank-Bean-Sprouter/ > > > > > > and he has a variant: > > > http://www.instructables.com/id/Semi-Automatic-Hydroponic-PlanterSprout-grower/ > > > > > > and if that doesn't get you enough sprouts, this guy know what to do with a 10x20 nursery flat: > > > http://www.instructables.com/id/Toilet-Gardener > > > > > > Molly > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > >
