Guest guest
Sprouts make a great garnish for any soup-especially " cream " style soups (we make our cream soups without cream, using white beans, cauliflower or other veggies to thicken them, but however you like them works) We just sprinkle a good bunch of them over it. Our favorite is sunnies on cream of cauliflower soup. We also make lettuce wraps, using any large leaf of lettuce as the wrap-you can use egg salad, tabuleh, chicken salad-whatever your choice of filling is and add a bunch of sprouts before you wrap it. You can add sprouts to any green smoothie. They are great stir fried with any other vegges, meats, etc. You can sprinkle them over spagetti, fettucini, etc. You can bake them in to muffins and breads. You can make " arrancini " , which is a stuffed rice ball (like a meatball, only made from rice, and usually stuffed with a piece of cheese or meat-we like them just plain. Roll the arrancini in sprouts before serving. Another " no-cook " meal, is to take a round loaf of bread, slice it into three layers (like a layer cake) Spread each layer with a different spread-egg salad, chicken salad, pimento cheese, etc-any of your choice-we are vegetarian, so we do egg, pimento, and hummus) Spread each layer then stack on the other layers, so the loaf is back in its original shape-make a " frosting " of cream cheese softened and mixed with a little milk (we use rice milk) chopped herbs and sprouts- " frost " the sandwich with the cream cheese, like you would a cake, and sprinkle sprouts all over it like you would put sprinkles on a cake-this sandwich is a HUGE hit with kids! Just cut it like you would any cake and serve. Hope this gives you a few ideas! > > > > As a guilty confession, this is the first time I've thought about what I eat, and only because of health concerns not previously known. I would really appreciate some of you sharing your favorite ways to incorporate sprouts into your diets. Since I don't really know how to cook, I'm not very creative about what to do with these things beyond putting in salads. I will try Melody's sprout patties once I have some sprouts to use. Thanks. > > > > Dona > > >
