Schroth Method

Hello

I have been following your postings and was shocked that Liv's spine has lost much of its flexibility. What reason do the docs give?

I am a little acquainted with the Schroth method. It is a massive undertaking and suits only young people whose spines still retain flexibility. It is also advantageous for older scoliotics whose curve has more or less ossified, in terms of improving posture and easing breathing. However, if you have already had scoliosis surgery to receive metal instrumentation I do not think you can be a candidate for Schroth method.

I bought Dr Schroth's textbook which shows very dated photos of patients in various positions. It is absolutely vital that no one cherry-picks exercises that they think are relevant to their curve. However much you think you know about your deformity it is only after rigorous investigation by a Schroth doctor that a set of exercises will be specially written for you.

In fact, doing an exercise that YOU have decided might suit you could be harmful to your spine.

It is an arduous task requiring dedication and stamina and I know I couldnt do it. I rang the Schroth Klinik in Germany and the waiting list for a consultation was 2 yrs. There is a clinic in Spain which offers the method or perhaps a slightly amended version but you chaps are too far away.

Schroth is an excellent method. Unfortunately, it is geared primarily for adolescence scoli patients. It is very specific and a young child just doesn’t have the capacity to understand.
