Guest guest
<<Dear Ashok, What makes you feel alienated here (on this group)? >coming next -- my 2 cents for all the staff children - past and present -- where we have been alienated in the so called " secular " group !! Ravin '82>> the tone of all the mails on this topic -- all of the venters did not think once about the efforts and talent of the staff children and forget about sympathizing with the issues they face -- everybody took a very unilateral stand in their tirade against the senior faculty and their children. my two cents for the staff children - past and present-- don't get discourged by one word these frustrated souls have vented -- YOU ARE NO LESS WORTH -- than each of these students who did not make it to the local medical college and ended up in mgims and were losers like us in the first round after high school-- just get out of sewagram, even if briefly and prove your worth -- not to others but to YOURSELF !! you will need to persevere and persist -- as it is rough in the beginning as we get used to the overprotective atmosphere of small town sewagram which includes doling out of good grades as has been universally alleged !! but in the end we prevail and even do better than some of these pgi / aiims / mumbai /nonconnected grads -- maybe because we were born to some bright individuals who also believed in sacrifice, to be part of dr sushila nayar's dream of a premier medical school in a rural setting !! its a shame to see the callousness of some to become so unilateral in critiquing them by getting stuck on one controversial area. i have done it -- it took me a while -- but it is no easy task to start a practice from a scratch in a foreign land (in the burbs of a big metro) especially when you are colored -- in my case actually black - shyam ranga ranga re !! look at gopal taori - intensivist amit chaturvedi -- orthopedics at kolkatta via entrance exam -- i am sure chaturvedi sir and madam did not fix the national entrance exam -- dipti gupta -- if she would have stayed in academics she would have excelled guaranteed -- sonali mehta -- i wonder what she is upto -- but she has always been academically excellent AAD TO THE LIST -- when i suffered from self doubt -- i would think of dipti / gopal / amit /nandini gokulchandran nandini actually was a student of my third class -- i took drop in 12th, thanks to the lack of english medium high school in my time -- when i taught 2nd grade and 3rd grade in KVM for 6 months -- Harshvardhan Tikle and Nandini were so close up at the top and Nandini just closely made it to the top in the 3rd grade finals -- honestly nandini was my favorite as Harshu was a tough cookie even in 3rd grade and it was hard not to get biased in grading their final papers -- talk about the problem of bias in grading in medical school where things are as subjective as can be -- without an MCQ format to take away the subjective bias -- i openly challenge all the great souls who vented their feelings without restraint and moderation in this forum -- i bet they do many unethical things in their practice inspite of being well intentioned -- so buck up staff kids -- sometimes it is easier to achieve as an unknown than to wrestle with expectations (of the staff) and lack of appreciation and jeolousy, envy, misconceptions of your colleagues -- it is like Bill Gates son excelling and everybody giving credit to his dad's connections - poor guy -- infact very few kids of great achievers are poor achievers themselves -- so many blocks to achieve simple dreams -- only one solid ADVICE -- GET OUT OF SEWAGRAM, even if briefly -- take on the battles valiantly -- TO DISCOVER YOURSELF !!! ashok harinath bhaskar 1984 batch ------------------------------ Website: www.mgims.org ------------------------------
