Hi Eileen,

Please could you let me know what do you mean by 'outward expression

of illness' ? Both of my sons seem to do badly on D3 (NT son says it

makes him feel really depressed) and maybe I just need to give it a

longer trial...if bad stuff is a possibility to start with?

Adding that we put in D3 with good success, prompting

outward expression of illness which we hadn't seen for

years.

been treating my daughter's PANDAS for the last several

years, using supplements and diet to rebalance her immune

system and increase her resistance to infection. We have

had great success with this method, as have many of the

patients I worked with between 2003-2010 when I was in

private practice.

antibiotic treatment (for other children) for the acute

bacterial infections. I have worked with physicians,

helping to educate them about PANDAS and making

recommendations for treatment, especially with IM

bicillin. IM bicillin is an injected form of antibiotic

that treats strep and works very well for a significant

number of children. Part of the reason IM bicillin is

preferable (in my opinion and experience) is because it is

not as likely to damage the balance of bacteria in the

gastrointestinal tract, where the good bacteria is

essential in keeping pathogenic yeast overgrowth from

taking over.

>

> In the children I have seen, many of whom have not

only PANDAS, but who have also been diagnosed with Autism,

the overgrowth of yeast in the GI tract is very near 100%.

With the patients I have been priveleged to work with, we

have tried to avoid the use of oral antibiotics whenever

possible because once yeast takes hold it is much more

difficult to get rid of than the bacterial infections that

cause PANDAS symptoms.

natural agents that can be used to strengthen the body's

resistance to bacterial infections. Among these, Olive

High Potency Proteolytic Enzymes and Soveriegn Silver are

some of the most effective.

promise with PANDAS include oral or IM baygam, Low-Dose

Naltrexone, and IVIG (Intravenous Immuno Globulin). IVIG

has been highly effective at treating PANDAS, with one

study showing complete cessation of symptoms in 86% of

patients. However, IVIG is also very expensive and it is

frequently not covered by insurance. The reason IVIG and

bagam are effective is not because they treat strep (or

other bacterial infections), it's because they repair the

damaged immune system that sets kids up for the infections

in the first place.

prescription. This is what I have done with my daughter

thing about these options (IMO) is that unlike long-term

antibiotic use (which my daughter and many of the other

kids I've seen) have had as young children, the things I

have discussed and believe are certainly viable

alternatives, do not lead to the depletion of vital

enzymes and bacteria in the gut.

chronic bacterial (or viral) infections. I absolutely

agree with the use of antibiotics for the acute infection.

In children who need to have longer-term administration of

antibiotics, it just makes sense to me to do it in a way

that does not cause even more problems down the road.

Thanks Eileen,

I am planning another trial soon.

I appreciate your posts as they are making some things a lot clearer

to me.

Thanks again.

Hi, , my ds is of the type that is "never ill" - put

in D3, he actually showed the outward signs of a virus

which we knew from behaviour, things weren't right with

him, then he picked up very nicely. Its so difficult to

tell with our kids I know. The other thing is, we all had

a virus here, and we took D3 high dose as well after a

struggle with it and it hit it big time. Worked well.

when we used D3 we saw detox (in DS this is manic behaviour abd hyperactivity in DS this is depressed type feelings and very tired). When we bought drops that were just 100IU per drop and increased gradually he was fine.  We know his levels were very low as blood was tested.  We know use 1 drop that is 1000 IU and levels are fine.

Prior to this we noticed the same manic behaviour when been in sun for a few days and could never understand it.  I now believe this was due to natural Vit D increase and fact that he was very low (and he is toxic) so got detox symptoms.  He has been so much better on it when done gradually - doesn't get ill as often and when he does deals with it much better.

Of course this would only be indicative if levels are low to start with.BWAlison

Hi, , my ds is of the type that is " never ill " - put in D3, he actually showed the outward signs of a virus which we knew from behaviour, things weren't right with him, then he picked up very nicely. Its so difficult to tell with our kids I know. The other thing is, we all had a virus here, and we took D3 high dose as well after a struggle with it and it hit it big time. Worked well.

Thanks Alison,

I will go very slowly. Can you tell me what brand the lower dose one

was please.

when we used D3 we saw detox (in DS this is manic

behaviour abd hyperactivity in DS this is depressed type

feelings and very tired).

When we bought drops that were just 100IU per drop and

increased gradually he was fine.  We know his levels were

Prior to this we noticed the same manic behaviour when

been in sun for a few days and could never understand it.

I now believe this was due to natural Vit D increase and

fact that he was very low (and he is toxic) so got detox

symptoms.  He has been so much better on it when done

gradually - doesn't get ill as often and when he does

deals with it much better.

Of course this would only be indicative if levels are

low to start with.

When we bought drops that were just 100IU per drop and

increased gradually he was fine.  We know his levels were

very low as blood was tested.  We know use 1 drop that is

1000 IU and levels are fine.

It was bio care.  They do 2. One with 100IU per drop and one with 1000iu per drop.Alison
