About Online Controversy

I think this is a good time to remind everyone about the dynamics of online

controversy in a list or message board community, as we will be seeing

future responses to our recent upheaval.

As it happens with any online group, it takes time for everyone to catch

up. Some people don't get to their computers until late evening. Some

won't see any of this until they get to their computers at work tomorrow.

Some people will read one message, send a response before reading further,

and then realize after the fact that all has been worked out. It would be

great if people could/would read everything before sending responses to

controversy, but sometimes it just doesn't happen that way. Sometimes

people do read it all, but still wish to post their views, which is their

right.

So we will probably see more messages this evening about Tara's mistake.

We may see even more tomorrow as people come online for the first time

since Friday. Please let's all be prepared for this, and let's not let it

start any further fires. People will soon see that it has all been worked

out, and they will stop posting about it.

I have warned Tara about this privately so she will not be upset if she

sees future posts on this issue.

Please... there is no need to respond to this message. I just wanted

everyone to be aware for the future.
