Seretide

Hi June

No I haven't started using Seretide yet.

At the beginning of this year I was referred to hospital for lung

function tests and as a result of these the Consultant prescribed two

puffs morning and again in the evening of the Seretide 250 accuhaler

and also Singulair. That was in March. So far I haven't taken any of

the medication.

The reasons are threefold:-

1) When my Becotide medication was being increased my doctor

said it was OK as long as I didn't increase it beyond 1000mcgm/day.

The Seretide would be the steroid equivalent of 2000mcgm/day of

Becotide.

2) When I go to bed at night I am always tight and wheezy. I do

not medicate but tape my mouth so that I cannot over-breathe while

asleep. In the morning the wheeze and tightness have gone. So why

take Seretide at night?

3) If I do take the Seretide the daily intake of the Salmeterol

component will be 200mcgm. I have read somewhere that the maximum

dose is 100mcgm.

All the very best

Ivor
