Guest guest
Taryn: LOL - you're not a dummy - that is terrific news!! My gosh, what a humungous relief for you guys! I know COBRA is an absolute rip off, as is normal health coverage these days. This is a time where I'm thankful I do work for " daddy " and he takes care of his " baby daughter " with health ins! shew! Fingers are crossed got all her ER visits & illnesses out of the way for a long time now!!! Debbie Abby's mom DOCGrad MI > I feel like SUCH a dummy. I called the tax lady and was talking to her and telling her I couldn't believe we owed so much and she asked me what I was talking about. When I originally called her she said we owed 42. I automatically assumed since we have owed $1100 two years in a row that she meant $4200. Who doesn't think of 1000s of dollars when owing the govt? Well, she told me we owe $42 and I about had a heart attack. I couldn't believe it. That was the best news of my life. I am sorry for jumping the gun and posting about it so soon but I was beside myself thinking we would owe them for the rest of our lives. We have owed tons in the past so it was just added stress from that. > > My husband's work told them last Wed. that they are canceling insurance effective March 1. They are a small company so I think that's why they don't have to give 30 days notice. It still sucks since I am on maintenance meds for asthma and I don't want to not have insurance for . We can get a policy for her and I through our insurance company but it's an extra $150 a month we just don't have. Keep your fingers crossed that nobody gets sick soon. I did find out that effective this year all insurance premiums are 100% deductible when you're self-employed so that's a plus for us. They are offering COBRA but just for they want $272 per month and that's not feasible for us. They only offer that for six months besides. He was only paying $80 per month. I am so glad we did the helmets and everything before all this happened. It's definitely a blessing in disguise. Thanks for the encouragement. At least one of our worries is gone now. > > Taryn and > Indiana > Re: We got a response from the insurance > > > OUCH Taryn! > Man, that is a ton of money to owe in taxes! I'm so sorry to hear > that, at least you have 1.5 mos before you have to fork it over to > W., but wow! Major bummer, Major! > And you're losing health insurance?? Oh gosh, you're full of bad > financial news today. How can your husband's company do this to > their employees? Is it a big company? I do books where I work and > trust me, health ins. premiums have gone up avg of 20% each year I've > been there - 6 yrs almost now, but I can't believe the company is just > gonna cancel it! My work pays 2/3 of the ins. premium, employee is > responsible for the other 1/3, which is great. > Any way your husband can pay the entire premium? Or aren't they even > offering that? What about COBRA? I know COBRA costs an arm & a leg, > but to go w/o health ins.,esp with your condition & a kid, that's very > scary > BUT, on a happy note, glad your ins. did cover the bulk of 's > helmet, that is good news. > Sorry - I hope things get better soon!
