Hi,

My 16 year old (17 on Wednesday!) has not done a BM for 4 days (he is

the king of constipation but we has never been this long without BMs)

.....his tummy is huge and he has not been wanting to go to the toilet

and today revealed that it is because his bottom hurts (he has severe

verbal dyspraxia and also does not volunteer much).

We usually use oxy powder and more recently senna tea, but it does not

seem to be doing the trick (6 oxy p last night and 4 this morning) ...he

has never complained of a sore bottom before and seems to be holding it

in....he also has a very high pain threshold so it must hurt a lot.

Because he is in pain we went to the doctors today and he did not

examine his bottom (spent too much time obsessing that he was gluten

free and why was that!) and prescribed movicol (1 sachet this evening

and maybe 1 in the morning)...said if he has not done anything by Friday

come back then.

We have never used movicol and I am rather nervous to try it. Is there

anything to watch out for ...are there any nasties in it...I am worried

because is prone to petit mal seizures if he has anything that

does not agree with him. Also the box says for constipation 1-3 for

impaction 8 surely 1 is not going to do much for a very large 16 year old?
