I really need some input - for the last year I've found myself with

less energy and drive. By drive I mean being able to get up in the

morning, and taking forever to do things. for example, over the

last year, it's been harder and harder for me to get up in the

morning, sometimes over an hour of hitting the snooze. I'm getting

enough sleep, 7-8 hours a night. When getting up in the morning, I

tell myself as I hit my snooze " Okay, now get out of bed! " but then

I just lay back down and go back to sleep. It's hard to describe,

but it's like my body doesn't want to (or is unable to) listen to my

mind.

I know my boss told me that it seemed, over the last year, that I'm

not all there when at work, that I haven't been myself. I've lost

all self-discipline to go to the gym over this same timeframe as

well.

Is it possible that this could be HIV-related? I am SO INCREDIBLY

frustrated. I have told all my doctors about this, and have asked

about testosterone, but they all seem VERY reluctant to prescribe it

and my insurance won't pay for it. (fyi: I've been poz since 1991

and on the cocktail since 1992)

Like I said, is there a possibility that this could be HIV-related?

And if so, what can I do about it?

Thanks for any help you can give me.

it does sound like very low testosterone levels. that's the same way my partner was until he got on therapy. Now he is back to normal. Have your levels tested and if you are even borderline get the shots, patch or gel. I have had the shots done every 2 weeks for the last 14 years.

I suggest you have your testosterone level tested before you willy-nilly start taking testosterone. Also, you might be slightly anemic. You might check your hemoglobin and iron levels. Anemia can suck the energy out of ya.

Hi , just asking but have you talked to your doctor about

depression? All of the symptoms you list below are also some of the

classic symtopms of depression. We all get it from time to time and the

effects can be just as physically debilitating as any drug regimine -

it's not always just an emotional state. I would talk to your doctor and

see what he/she thinks. They could make a better diagnosis. -Mike

,

The causes of your fatigue could be many. You say your docs are reluctant to

prescribe testosterone. Have you had your testosterone levels measured? (Both

free and total.) If your levels are decreased it could be this. If they haven't

done this, I believe it is below the standard of care and you might consider

changing docs. All the symptoms you describe could be due to low testosterone.

Also, you don't say what meds you're on, could you be more specific?

My docs have also told me that fighting this thing for over 23yrs (Poz since at

least 1983) does take its toll. Good Luck

Larry

,The types of symptoms you describe are very broad, and certainly distressing.  HIV itself, drug side effects, depression, stress; all of these could be at least partly to blame.I think I would push your doctor for a more thorough evaluation. Is your boss aware of your health situation?   Barrowpozbod@...
