If no one has a specific name you could try looking at the website of OTIPP (Association of Occupational Therapists in Private Practice). They have lists and areas of specialism. Check that the OT is as qualified as possible in SI - some have just done a brief training session or two for so called credits. The ultimate is one who could administer a SIPT (Sensory Integration and Praxis Test) - it used to be that very few in the UK were qualified to do this (Most just do a Sensory Profile). Maybe things have improved now that SI OT is more on everyone's radar. In my experience its difficult to get good SI OT carried out at school as there often are not the space/facilities. In which case if you are going to them, check that whoever it is has a reasonable workspace and whether they can offer eg suspended equipment. I am having a problem , I got the money in the budget for a OT to do SI with DS once a week but so far the LEA as not found anyone , the NHS refused to allow their OT to do private arguing conflict of interest so I have money and not the person so I am thinking in all the possibilities .....one is to find someone TO in short distance from where we live as Jane Horwood has retired from practicing early this year.
