This afternoon there is another variant of the Love Bug virus

(technically it is a worm because it can replicate itself and viruses

cannot). It is particularly deceiving as it appears to come from

Symantec. However, it is a variant of the Love Bug Virus. The subject

line will include: Virus ALERT!!! Delete this at once because it

contains and exe file with a

deadlier payload than the original virus as it deletes bat and com

files. Bat files are needed to boot up your PC.

There are approximately 9 other variants. The most common are: FW:

Joker, Mothers Day Confirmation Order and now the Virus ALERT. Each of

the variants plays on the end users trust and concern with finances, as

in the Mother's Day Confirmation Order. It says to open the included

attachment to verify your 326.00 order. (Wording maybe a little

different)

I'm going to include http://www.cybercrime.com Web site as they are very

well informed and have a lot of current information and links to fixes

for these variants and a lot of other information related to the attack.
