Guest guest
Hello I haven't posted for a while but have a question for anyone who has come across the same issue during potty training. I have a 6 1/2 year old who we have been trying to potty train. In addition to Moderate Autism she also has OCD and ADHD. She is afraid to go into most bathrooms she will stand by the door but won't go in. At the same time she has an obsession to go into the bathroom which really frustrates her. We justed moved to a new house in our last house she would go into the bathroom and even sit on the toilet. But, on occasion she would go into the bathroom and put sftuff down the toilet when someone forgot to lock the door. I don't know how many toilets we changed due to soap or toys being put down the toilet. She has rarily goes in any commercial type bathrooms except on the rare occasion she will lately go to the sink but not near the stall. In our new home she won't go into the bathroom unless the lid is closed on the toilet. If you raise the lid she freaks out. We have been trying to think why that is. She also freaks out if she sees us putting anything down the toilet like old food. We think it might be the water in the toilet she is afraid of. That it will come out of the toilet and get her. The last toilet had a very low water level while this one is higher and because of the stuff she put down the toilet it overflowed a few times. She will come in the bathroom and sit on the toilet if the lid is down. She will also flush it and that is another one of her obsessions. She also loves to turn the water on in the sink as well. So I am not sure if the noise might be a factor or not. It could be with the commericial bathrooms. Our concern is that she holds it and than she wets her pants after holding it for hours and occasionally through school. Other times she goes through 3 pants a day from gushing. We are concerned how this will affect her bladder and kidneys as well as cause infections. We have tried potty chairs, big bear potty movie, potty book, talked to doctors, working with OT. Her special ed teacher also has not come across this before and have had little success. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks wind_decor@... --------------------------------- Yahoo!
