Guest guest
Hi All! In my undying curiosity to learn the truth about my mother during my early growing up years, does anyone know if there's a way to gain access to court records regarding divorce/custody proceedings back in the 50s? The reason I'm curious is because my father tried to get custody of my brother and I on the grounds that his wife was an unfit mother. When mother told me about it when I was 9 at the time, I freaked, because I knew it was a lie and I didn't want to live with dad. She assured me there was nothing to worry about, because dads never got custody of their kids unless the mother was a total loser. Mother said dad didn't give a hoot about us kids, that the only reason he wanted custody was because his mother (my grandmother) wanted to save face in their community. Mother got custody, of course. I wonder what really went on? Have I subconsciously blanked-out the bad memories? Wouldn't the court records provide the details of the charges? Courts keep those records, don't they? " The truth shall set you free " Thanks, everyone. Best wishes, Carol
