Guest guest
Hi & welcome to our group!! Let me start by saying your son is at the perfect younger age to begin his helmet treatment! He should get excellent & fast correction. Next --- what type of helmet is he wearing?? A STARband made by Orthomerica (if it's the STAR, it would have a star logo imprinted somewhere on the band), a DOCband made by Cranial Technologies or a locally made helmet? My daughter 1st wore a STARband and that band's velcro opening was on her left side which was her non plagio side. She wore that band with no success for 3 mos a result of an untrained - unexperienced orthotist. Do you know how much training your orthotist has in treating plagio babies w/the helmet? That is the key to success in any of these products. Abby later wore a DOCband, the velcro opening was on her flat side (right). I've been told the velcro opening vary though depending on the child. It makes more sense to me for the opening to be on the flat side of the head especially in an active band like the STAR or DOCband so that the pressures of the band can be correctly applied to the non flat side. Boy this gets confusing! The actual velcro is sinking into your son's head? That definitely shouldn't be if so. The velcro should be very loose and not at all tight on his head. Is he getting bad red spots anywhere that don't fade w/i one hour of the band being off? I'm sooo sorry you're so frustrated, I know how you feel. It's a shame though your son's " sperm donor " isn't of any help at all, absolute shame and it's his loss. Welcome again, vent away to us, that's why we're here. Guest guest
HI, Welcome to the group! I have to agree with everything Debbie said. My daughter is in a DOCband and it opens on her plagio side. (right) Please keep us posted. > > Hi, let me introduce myself. My name is . Guest guest
I am pretty sure the majority of DOCband openings are on the child's flat side of their head. I remember posting this same question to the group shortly after Abby got her STARband and the opening was on her non flat side, that concerned me and we ended up getting no results from that band. Are you possibly closing the velcro too tightly? Like pulling on it to hard to close it? Hope things start to go better soon. Keep your spirits up, the first week or two are pretty stressful and often many trips are needed to the orthotist to get that perfect fit. Guest guest
- Welcome to the group! is at a phenomenal age for correction! What kind of band does have? Does your ortho have a lot of experience? The opening should be on the flat spot. Tim Littlefield from Cranial Technologies explained why a few months ago, but I cannot find the post Do you mean the back part of the opening (where the buckle is) is curving into his skin and causing problems? Are you pulling the velcro or just laying it down? That is way cool about your stepmom being a chiropractor. Does she do cranial sacral therapy for too? You are one busy mom, but incredibly dedicated. Since you started so young, he will graduate early and get great correction Dane's mom DOC Grad
Guest guest
Collin's opening on his STARband was on his non-flat spot. Not sure if that's normal for STARbands or not... He got amazing correction in only about 2 months. Guest guest
HI All, The opening is on the flat side. This side sits flush when it is not on . However when it is on him the back side with the opening lays coser to the head and is not flush with the opening. Does this make sense? Thanks for all the input! & > > > > Hi, let me introduce myself. My name is . I have a 4 > > month > > > > old son who has been diagnosed with plagio. Guest guest
HI , My daughter is in a DOCband and it doesn't close all the way. There is a little space between the sides of the band where it closes. Does that make sense? She's been banded since July and we've seen some really great correction! I don't think the band is supposed to close all the way. What type of band is in? > > > > > Hi, let me introduce myself. My name is . Guest guest
Hi, is in a locally made helmut mfg by Ballert Industries in the Chicago area. His helmut closes all the way as he's only had it a week the back side lays lower than the front side at the opening when on. Thx. > > > > > > Hi, let me introduce myself. My name is .
