If anyone told me how nice I looked or something similiar, my nada would say " Pretty is as pretty does " . that was her answer when I asked if I was even half pretty. About that " friend " - I imagine you picked someone who had her own problems, because you hadn't learned discernment skills from your nada. I, too, had some lousy " friendships " along the way.
