Guest guest
Exactly why I don't make any. I got back from church this morning to see 2 fire engines and an ambulance outside in the street. Next door had had a kitchen fire (everyone okay). Now I had left the stock pot on a very low gas - so for a moment I did wonder if it was my house. The fire brigade put leaflets through everyone's doors with advice on preventing kitchen fires. They say never go out leaving something cooking. They also say turn off the dishwasher and the washing machine when you go out as a lot of kitchen fires are caused by electrical appliances. How on earth are you supposed to make bone broth, then? I have the stock pot on for 24 -36 hours at a time. (It's a large pot, holding abut 11 - 12 litres.) Guest guest
It was one of the reasons we got a slow cooker. I am much happier leaving this on (also perhaps handy to choose one with an ON light). > > Exactly why I don't make any. Guest guest
Hi MargaretI had a kitchen fire last year on April fools day! The cooker caught fire(don't ask).It was a stress full situation as couldn't get dd to leave the house, she kept trying to get to her fish and chips which were in the cooker. After this I didn't bother replacing the cooker, I just do everything in the slow cooker. KathSent from my iPad I got back from church this morning to see 2 fire engines and an ambulance outside in the street. Next door had had a kitchen fire (everyone okay). Guest guest
Margaret, I haven't ever seen a 11 litre one so no help there but I just bought a Breville and I don't like it at all - it overheats (even on low) and the liquid spits out over the liner in between the heater and burns and stinks - it did have a few bad reviews on Argos but I ignored them and bought it anyway.  It was a cheap one because I didn't know how much I would use it but if I were going to buy again I would buy a more expensive one as they heat more evenly and are designed better.  Not sure if that is helpful but good luck anyway. Darla  Does anyone know of a huge one - sayy 11 to 12 litre capacity, please? Margaret > > slow cooker >
