Great Sandi! Getting a date is a wonderful, joyful feeling...then

the panic starts to set in! lol, just joking. Actually the only

thing I worried about was getting sick and having to postpone the

surgery...so I am wishing you an very healthy waiting period and a

quick smooth recovery.

Hugs...Sandi's got a date, Sandi's got a date!

Okie dokie then!..let's get on with this! I got a call from Dr. K.'s

office today....my surgery date (and the earliest they have

available) is April 24th. (whew~!) I got the call while I was in

Morro Bay at the giant chess board (we reserved it for the day). The

call just made for an absolute perfect day. My brother and his family

have flown in from Arizona for a visit and are leaving Saturday, so I

will be missing the meeting tonight in Paso Robles (really thought I

was gonna make it....but the kids will be very disappointed if I

don't " hang with them tonight " )....it was such a great day! Nice

weather, nice recreation....FINALLY MY PHONE CALL....AND family to

share it with. What more could I ask for? Well....I think the

support I have from you all complete me. Thank you all!

Yes, Anne in Santee... it IS Wednesday. That's why I wanted to be

treated to dinner Tuesday in connection with the Delano meeting where

they throngs of hundreds will sent me off (with Pat and Phyllis) for my

surgery with resounding cheers... and a glass of water.

Betty,

The drains are mid abdomen one either side of the belly button. One

drains the stomach area inside and the other drains the intestinal area. They

are pinned to the binder. I wore loose gowns, Nothing that is tight on the

belly area will be comfortable. I mostly wore sweatpants, and thermal shirts.

I wished I had brought shorts for a few days, and it was in Dec. So I assume

they will be nice now....LOL. My biggest factor in packing is comfort.

Sweatpants were better than gowns because of easy access to drains for

emptying, and if they get tugged on......You can reposition them by lifting

your shirt or tee. hospital gowns at least the first 2 days. Hope it helps.

Betty,

I don't know how long I will be in the hospital. I think that I will be going

home by Sunday, but with me being a " problem child " you never know! I will

see you there later in the week. I will stop by when I go for a check up and

you will probably be more alert then anyway.

Betty....Yeah!!! not long at all until your sliced and diced! lol I

wasn't nervous at all before surgery either...well I was a bit

nervous about the heprin shots, only because I hate needles and had

never had a shot in the tummy...it was a piece of cake.

The drains...they are located above your waistline on each side of

the incision. I wore loose dresses. But Yes you can wear loose

pants (otherwise the men would be in trouble!) Do make sure they are

loose and comfortable because you can possible have a lot of swelling.

I chose dresses that way there wasn't any waistband rubbing at

all...but the biggest reason...the many trips to the restroom was

easier...I didn't wear underware and all I had to do was flip up my

dress and sit...enough work to accomplish early postop.

Hugs and happy packing
