HIV InSite (3/29/2006) Dr. [Frederick (Rick)] Hecht explores whether depression, stress, and other psychological factors can affect the outcome of HIV disease. A few studies suggest this possibility, but more research is needed. Dr. Hecht also discusses increases in CD4 count from a yoga and HIV study and how meditation/mindfulness classes have been proven to decrease stress and depression in other populations.
