Guest guest
Hi , Your Medicare begins 24 months from your date of entitlement, or July 2007. Because you were on SSDI and Medicare previously, you might be able to appeal to get your Medicare earlier. Check with your local Social Security office and/or AIDS service organization. If you have COBRA benefits now, you might not want to start Medicare any earlier than July 2007, as eligibility for Medicare terminates your rights to COBRA benefits, which may be better in some ways than Medicare. 32824 wrote: By which date does Medicare start? I know I have to wait 24 months, but from what date? MY SSDI Award Letter says that I became disabled under social security rules on January 31, 05. Then it says that my first calendar month of entitlement is July 2005. I didn't get my first check until May 06, and it was quite a large backpayment (which I had to give to Metlife Disability for "benefit overpayment") But my 1st regular check came in June, this year. So, does anyone have any idea when the 24 month countdown starts for Medicare? I make so little on SSDI that I'd qualify for the extra help on Medicare D, so I don't forsee a "donut hole". I heard my meds would be $2-$3 each. SEIZE THE DAY! ENJOY TODAY, SMELL THE ROSES AND HUG YOURSELF How low will we go? Check out Yahoo! Messenger’s low PC-to-Phone call rates.
