Hi. I wanted to introduce myself as a new member to the group. My name is Teri and I just picked up the Starband yesterday for my 4 month son, Jadon. I also have a four year old daughter, .

After much persistence with the pediatrician's office, they finally gave me a referral for Jadon at 2 1/2 months. He has torticollis and always keeps his head to the right. We tried to see if physical therapy alone would do the trick since he was still so young, but when they did a second scan a month later, his head had gotten worse and they decided it was time for the Starband.

Anyway, as I mentioned, I just picked it up yesterday and I already HATE it!!!!! Every time I put it on him, he SCREAMS. We have left it on for two hours and the screaming doesn't really get any better. When we take it off to do a skin check, the skin is red in the areas where more pressure is being applied, but I don't know if it is any redder than it really should be. Is it normal to have the inconsolable crying while they are getting used to it? How do I know if he is screaming in pain, or just because it is annoying? Of course, since it is the weekend, I can't talk to anybody at the orthotics and prosthetics office. Every picture I see of babies with the Starband on always shows them happy and smiling - I don't see that ever happening! Please tell me if there is a normal time period before the screaming will stop and he will be used to it. Thanks in advance for any advice.

Ortho I had initially does not have a lot of experience with the

helmets. (A comfort, huh?!) Like I mentioned before, I am requested

a new helmet to be made for Tyler as the one we have now is all cut up

and out of wack!

GREAT to hear this Trixie - you definitely sound to be heading in the

right direction at long last. Can't wait to hear how your appt goes!

I just want to commend you on being SO alert and knowing his band

wasn't right. Great job - you could've wasted mos in that band had

you not trusted your gut instincts - wish I would've been as smart as

you :( Good job Mom!!!

Something tells me there are a lot more than just 2 Tyler ' LOL

I couldn't wait to take on the name - my maiden name is pretty

unusual & hard to pronounce, but since then, it is just too

confusing!! LOL I'll get the wrong prescriptions, wrong clothes at the

cleaner...etc...!
