That guy is an @ss.

Was that at the Car Show here in Chgo?

You think in a big city people would see just about everything and

know better than to say stupid things.

You handled it well.

You go to Dr. Frim right, Were you in town for an appt? I was there

yesterday morning at 9:30. It would be funny if we were both there

at the same time and didn't know it.

and says, " Yeah, I should have worn my safety helmet today, too " . I

just wanted to deck this guy. Luckily my husband didn't hear him or

he would have gone off. After that, took her out of the

stroller and paraded around with her kissing her all the time and was

acting so proud of her. He is so great about it. We don't even

really see the helmet anymore so it's even worse. They look at her

like she's got two heads. Out of all those people only 1 asked why

she had it and that was a person working in the Jeep section. People

look at them like they have 3 heads or something.

Taryn,

I cannot believe a grown man would poke fun at a child. That

makes me so sad. You handled it well. I would have probably followed

him around and glared at him all night.

After reading your post I really paid attention to people's

reactions to A.J. today at the mall. There were stares with smiles

when I met the person's eyes. A lot of, " he's cute. " A lot of people

would look and look again and again. I myself watched a seeing eye

dog walking by with interest today, then turned my head thinking I am

just as bad! Shame on me.

I cna't belive that well actually I do because there are so many you

know whats out there. When Belle had her first helmet we had

something like that happen but the lady was congratulating us on

using the helmet in the shopping cart. She kept going on and on

about how wonderful we were but then when I finally interupted her

and told her that it wasn't for the safety reason it was that she was

born with a flat head she walked away. At least it ended that

conversation I know longer was the great parent haha. I do like the

idea of handing out helmets for those people maybe I'll have to get

some when Belle gets her doc band.

Debbie-

I can't believe that. You must have been at Beachwood Place! I

cannot believe how rude people are there. I guess checking your

manners at the door is a requirement for entrance!

If I'd have thought about handing out those mini football helmets

when Dane was banded, that's where I would go to do it. Of course

most of the rude people I met were women so I'd have to tell them to

put the helmet somewhere else! I'm sure I could improvise! Women

are so caddy!

When Belle gets her band, if you've ever in the mood for a

challenge, I'll meet you at Beachwood Place.

She thought you were using a helmet because Belle was in a shopping

cart? Like in case you crashed into something?

OH, That is TOO FUNNY.

I go way overboard on safety somethings, but even I would have never

thought of that.

Boy can I relate!! Since I have to go out of state for 's

treatment there aren't any banded babies where I live. Ppl GAWK at

her ALL THE TIME! It really makes me mad. I can understand looking at

her but these ppl gawk and very obvoiusly too. They're lucky I am so

pregnant now or I'd be hitting someone. It really bothers me and her

2 older siblings when we go out. Ppl can be so rude!

Taryn,

Reading your post reminded me of an experience we had 2 weeks ago.

We were checking into a hotel in Chinatown to watch the Chinese new

year parade. My daughter is Chinese. A heavy older guy with a cigar

came up, after looking at the band, and asked me if she was a SUMA

wrestler. It made no sense to me so I just laughed and said " yea " .

After he left I thought " what the heck was that?? " . First of all, we

were in Chinatown, not Little Tokyo. Do SUMA(sp?) wrestlers wear

helmets? I just thought he was an ignorant old jerk, and I couldn't

figure out why he even made that comment.

Most of the time little children ask me what it's for and I am more

than happy to tell them.

Best wishes,

,

I have to laugh. I lived in Tokyo for a while and learned more than I care to admit about Sumo wrestling. About the only thing Robin has in common with a Sumo wrestler is her asian ancestry and the little diaper thing the wrestlers wear! Sumo wrestlers grow their hair long and wrap it up on top of their head, but they wear no head gear of any kind. This guy is even more stupid than you first thought. It's funny to me that people will say something to a total stranger, thinking that they know everything, but proving that they don't know much of anything at all! Hopefully you can get a chuckle out of this as I have. Keep the stories coming.
