Guest guest
Thanks Margaret I'm down the road already telling them that will end up 52 week if something isn't done, so with this in mind I'm trying to organize the LD CP appointment in the school with everyone concerned present inc LEA. We already have experience of this service with P, worse than useless in his case, and not of the same quality as CAMHS for those with no LD's. Here's the thing though whilst they were giving P his re sit of psychometric testing which took so incredibly long it's hard to believe they didn't allow way more time than is permitted, a few groups arrived at the CDU, these were children who apparently had ADHD although every single one of them was sitting nicely and reading out of the books in the waiting room [quite unlike the ADHD kids I know] it got me thinking that no one actually wants to work with our kids if they can get out of it, at the same time they don't want to waste precious funding on them either sending them to people who will work with them. Then yesterday picking up from school there was an almighty fracas, he was down on the floor, head banging, screaming, lashing out, took the opportunity to say to the teacher that County think she wants to have full time, she said to me "Well this is what we do". So there we have it, from the horses mouth, it's all about containment, no teaching, no intervention, no therapy and all at the cheapest cost possible. Vicky Re: Second opinions and referells PS I know it's OCD you are worried about but it probvably leads to challenging behaviour! Don't know if they have a specialist OCD service but I think the LD service would be the right one for ? Margaret > > > > Spoke to CP yesterday regarding 's OCD and waiting list. > > He was seen 2 yrs ago where they decided he didn't actually have OCD, I have explained to this man that the situation is now much worse and even school are reporting major problems just getting through the day. The thing is though, he is still saying his team are not convinced this isn't just "Autistic Anxiety" probably something related to "toddlers diahrea" (sigh). > > I asked him if we can have a referrel to the Maudsley but he said they had never needed to refer anyone to the Maudsley, I told him the regardless of their history with others I would like that referrel, he then said there would be a budgeting issue. > > So how have any of you got referrels? > > TIA > > Vicky > > >
Guest guest
I absolutely have to keep them on side Mandi, we are at appealing amended statement stage and you know how it is, everything goes off at once. has a lot of stuff going down right now but listen to this, I asked the CP whose service goes by the misnomer of "starlight" I mean come on, "Moonshine" would surely be more apt, anyway I digress, asked him what happens in an emergency and that is so not an option because, he said they would intervene? I got the impression intervene did not mean a referrel to Maudsley! Vicky Re: Re: Second opinions and referells And you are posting here, so you must not have done what I would have and got arrested, well done! arghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh Mx Then yesterday picking up from school there was an almighty fracas, he was down on the floor, head banging, screaming, lashing out, took the opportunity to say to the teacher that County think she wants to have full time, she said to me "Well this is what we do".
