Guest guest
Steph, This group has had some discussion of the anticonvulsants in the last year http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/ARIsupport/ Some discussion of vit D and adequate levels re to seizure control http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/ARIsupport/message/7330 re anticonvulsants generally and nutrients see http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/ARIsupport/message/2530 We used tegretol for several years. It was before we found the gluten and casein connection to seizures here. When we went gfcf it took some investigating to realize that all the pharma pills of tegretol had a milk component. We ended up getting it compounded. I did not realize how harmful these anticonvulsants are to the folate cycle either. We had D levels of 19 to begin with. It took approx 1.2y on 5,000iu to get levels up to decent range. They seem to slide back easily so mow my daughter is maintained in 80 range on 7,500iu daily. > > Tom's paed is suggesting Tegretol to control his seizures. He's only had two, four months apart. I see it interacts with almost every other med he's ever taken - omeprazole, antihistamine, anti fungals, vitamin B.... > > Doc has also prescribed 10,000 iu of D3 a day. I thought 3,000 was a good dose so presumably this means he's very, very low in D3? > > Would welcome any thoughts. > > Many thanks > > Steph >

Guest guest
Down here their first line is Lamotrogine Mx Tom's paed is suggesting Tegretol to control his seizures. He's only had two, four months apart. But he also suffers with headaches, anxiety etc. Does anyone have any experience with Tegretol, good or bad? I see it interacts with almost every other med he's ever taken - omeprazole, antihistamine, anti fungals, vitamin B....Doc has also prescribed 10,000 iu of D3 a day. I thought 3,000 was a good dose so presumably this means he's very, very low in D3?Would welcome any thoughts. Many thanksSteph
