Same here, we ben up there this morning, I refused last year but this year I am going to do it. We have done a little Valtrex in the past with Sam going bonkers but DG has a very Rx plan including 1 week of Steroids to start that he says will ease issues and so will fact we have done so much chelation.

I said hardly any point in going to see him if I never take any notice of what he says, its a first for me, doing what I am told by a medic

Mx

Today Dr.G has recommended Antiviral for my son. Is it any good not sur about any side effects. He was suggesting some tests also. Every time we are thinking this will help him this will help. Can we try this without any testing. He is also suggesting some other medication for hyperactivity? Thanks Jabi

Hi, we are just starting on acyclovir on Monday, i know Harry has viruses as he has cold sores and blood test confirmed this, i have used naturals for 3.5 yrs but think its time to go in with the prescription meds now, i have heard alot of good things from children going on antivirals and am hoping to see language explosion (everything crossed here!)

Harry had a nagalase test carried out to establish a baseline of where we are with his viral load and we will retest later and hopefully his nagalase will come down with acyclovir.

Hi We too are starting a course of aciclovir for the third time next week under Dr G.I have been putting it off as dd went bonkers last time she was on it, but it seems she had developed allergy/sensitivity to it.This time he has suggested using prednisolone as well for 3 months to supress the immune system and stop the allergic reaction developing.I am worried about the whole thing, but last time even a 4 week course of aciclovir produced gains in language, more normal facial expression. My daughter is 18 and severely affected so Dr G thinks in view of her age and chronicity it might be the only way forward. It seems I'm not the only one taking a deep breath and going for it next week.Good luck , Mandi and Jabi.KathSent from my iPad

Hi Kath

No you are not putting me off, each child reacts differently and i have done alot of natural antiviral therapy including high dose PRX and 2 x 3 months of LDM-100 so hoping that will help but im the type of person that deals with things if and when so we will just see how things go.

Yes got the nagalase test done at Breakspear, i have viral titres tested last year with Lucinda miller and wanted them tested again just to see if i had made any headway with viruses, he was toying with the idea of doing the individual titres but decided to do the nagalase as it is a better test (his words). I think it takes longer to come back though.

Hi

The first week on Aciclovir was ok, the second week we had a few meltdowns and aggressive behaviours. The third week incidents were increasing and she was on a very short fuse, very tearful.

By the fourth week she was going very pale and her hand were going icy cold within about half an hour of taking the dose and was very distressed. Hope this is not too off putting for you.

She does have food allergies to various nuts and generally seems to be developing more and more sensitivities.

I asked Dr G about getting her nagalase levels tested thinking, like you it would provide a baseline , but he said oh they will be sky high.Did you get them tested as the B?

Hi, we are just starting on acyclovir on Monday, i know Harry has viruses as he has cold sores and blood test confirmed this, i have used naturals for 3.5 yrs but think its time to go in with the prescription meds now, i have heard alot of good things from children going on antivirals and am hoping to see language explosion (everything crossed here!) Harry had a nagalase test carried out to establish a baseline of where we are with his viral load and we will retest later and hopefully his nagalase will come down with acyclovir. x

Thanks Jabi

So I will be going to see Dr G on the 27th. He also wants to start my 11 year old daughter on acyclovir. We are still baffled as to what Noor's issues are. I have always suspected that she is a viral child (process of elimination). Her viral panel was pretty normal but then again, the one I had done only looks at 5 viruses. I am absolutely terrified of starting acyclovir after having read a lot of the experiences here.but I don't think we have a choice. We haven't really

seen any major wows so far although there have been subtle changes along the way (all positive).Good luck to those of you who are starting. I hope and pray that the journey is smooth. I'll let you know how we get on.Zahra

Its ok to give ibruprofen (for inflammation) but only for a maximum of a week, i have neuroprotek & Enhansa in too, which are both anti-inflammatories so hoping that will be enough plus obviously the added benefit of the mHbot, although Dr G said to not do for the first week of aciclovir.

hi mandi if the steroids do not work or even if they do you can then move after some time to ibuprofen, I said no to steroids... but found ibuprofen very beneifcial last time round which we did for 3 months , now on our next 3 months, but you definately need an anti fungal in place as well...as you know .... I am with you Zahra but I've done most everything its possible to do by myself and some odd bits with Heard like CLO and Bethanacol, the TST is deffo helping but its a long process so unless we keep going slow and sure with supps and chelation theres not much else to do and there is only so many times he'll see us and me saying no to everything but school have at least seen the progress now and as this is Rx stuff they should go for it, he knows how to sell it to them and has checked no contraindications with Lamotragine if the neuro puts Sam on that
