Guest guest
We actually turned the sound right down and just left the bone conductor for the first cycle and progressively introduced sound and increased bone conductor ........ just to say that my son is really sensitive to sound we started several times without bone conductor without success even the lower pitch sound were difficult for him to cope with. Guest guest
Thanks to everyone who responded.Another question is, would it still work if I just did 15mins of the program once per day and not twice as you should? My OT said it would still work but would just take twice as long.( I hope she is right because I don't think I could fit a session in before school as mornings are a crazy rush and stress levels high!)I would be very interested to hear the sort of gains /problems people experienced with TLP . It would give me an idea of what to be looking out for. Really appreciate your time. Thanks. Guest guest
We just do once a day. I havent used it yet for my son with autism but for my other son who has dyslexia it helps with concentration and attention span. We are on our second course now (last was 4 years ago) and his school work is improving. We have ethe senneister headphones. Our provider said the bone conducing ones make a more intense programme, I wasnt sure my son with autism would cope with that anyway as he is very sensitive x > > Thanks to everyone who responded. > > Another question is, would it still work if I just did 15mins of the program once per day and not twice as you should? Guest guest
Alison we saw more things about 6 weeks after we stopped with both my NT and Sam Mx We have just completed TLP with our 4 year old son. As he is only at morning nursery we aimed to do 2 x 15 minute sessions per day. We managed this 2-3 times per week then once a day for the other 2 or 3. I believe you can opt for the once a day option. We will shortly be going for another assessment to see if he has improved. I don't see his speech to be much clearer but the pattern of his speech has definitely improved and he has started singing all the time. He couldn't sing at all before! I guess the clarity of speech is something that now needs to be learned so we will be doing speech therapy shortly. I think we will probably re-visit TLP in a couple of years when we have removed more of his toxic load. BW Alison R Thanks to everyone who responded. Guest guest
I agree we started with 15 minutes and by the end we were on an hour a day which is the recommended by ILS you need to have in account which tracks are to sooth or stimulate the auditory system never stop the treatment on a track that stimulates the system as you can have tantrums and other coping reactions from the child. Ask your provider when is safe to stop the cd's I am sure they will have this information available.

Guest guest
Dear Sue, We have started TLP about 11 weeks ago just to prove it wont work. To our surprise, during the second week of the programme, our 3 and a half year old son started to listen to books reading by his therapists. before he used to turn pages and watch the pictures. now he listens carefully and even answers questions about the story. recently we have started music therapy once a week. He adores it and he completes more words and phrases even sentences with music. hope this helps. N > > We are just about to start TLP with DS and need to buy some headphones. > Our therapist has recommended the Bone Conduction ones but has told us we could also buy the much cheaper Senheisser. My question is do the bone conduction really make much of a difference? We are being quoted £750. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Many thanks. Guest guest
Thanks Mandi. I think this is why our provider has suggested we wait a few more weeks for assessment. - thank you so much for making me aware of Dilys Treharne.
