Guest guest
Its the same one, Lamictil or Lamotragine in generic. Sam's have never gone on for more than 2.5 mins, how long was your daughters? They told me blue light if it goes on for 5 mins Mandi x She said we would have to decide which route we would like to go, this type or the Lamictal. I remember you mentioned a particular one that promoted expressive speech that you were keen on trailing with Sam. I have searched the posts and can't find it. Could you tell me what it is? Guest guest
The couple of generalised ones have been under two minutes. The partial ones vary from a few seconds to the latest one being a half hour long. The eye rolling or the head jerking usually lasts under a couple of minutes again, but one or more systems such as speech or eyes take longer to come back online. During the partial seizures, usually one or the other systems will continue to work, for instance, this last one, her eyes and speech took half an hour but her arms and legs were working after a couple of minutes. The seizures have also presented differently each time. Sometimes it is eye twitching and then rolling off to the left. Other times, it is a staring off into space for a few seconds. Another time all we saw was a rage episode and then a post sleep. I am now able to see it coming though. Her processing gets very slow, as if what I am saying is not getting through, sometimes she will repeat the same word over and over again, very different from stemming, a stillness comes over her and I have to coax her gently to lie down. She also begins swallowing. This last time, when I asked her if she was having a seizure, she said 'yes'. When we did the video eeg, the discharge was dismissed as a brief single one over two days and not considered significant by the neurologist. It was interesting that the on call epileptologist this time had a look at it and said that the shape of the discharge indicated that Ishko's seizures were originating from different parts of the brain and not from the same area. Guest guest
Were you getting reasonable control with modified Atkins' before? If so then perhaps go back to it? (Specialist guidance on doing diets for epilepsy is available from the NHS in some places, or from a charity.) Also, sometimes some supplements can help.
