Guest guest
Lou- Dane has eczema. We used hydrocortisone cream. Everytime we gave him a bath, dh would make a paste with those Aveeno pouches on his head. That took away all the itches! Good luck! Guest guest
Hi Lou: For the few wks or so of Abby's band, she would rub the back of her head like crazy on the back of our chair, her highchair, whatever she could when the band was off her head. She didn't have any dry spots that we noticed. I think she was just so sweaty that it caused her head to itch, and the second the band was off her head, she went crazy itching it. We felt so bad for her, thankfully it didn't last very long. If is really sweaty, take the band off her so you can wipe her head and hair dry for a couple mins., that might help. Hope the itchin stops soon! Debbie Abby's mom DOCGrad MI > > seems to have a dry spot on her head. It is where the wave > is on her helmet just off her forehead. Guest guest
, Thanks for the information. The Aveeno, was it the regular bath salt? or was it something else (shampoo)? Please forgive my ignorance I have never used it before. We use the baby bath but that comes in a squeeze bottle. Thanks , Lou ( If it works I would love to try it.) Re: Itchy head? Guest guest
Thanks Debbie, Her head has not really been too sweaty. It gets a little damp, just on her forehead. I will try drying it off more often to see if this helps. I will try everything I can, poor little girl. Thanks again, Lou Re: Itchy head? Guest guest
Maybe Cade is just enjoying the feeling of his uncovered head. When Ben first got his DOCband and it would come off, he would start scratching the back of his head. I think that scratching was a soothing technique for him. When he is sucking on his bottle, he scratches my knee with one hand and my back with the other (unless he's tugging at my shirt instead). Sometimes when his band comes off, he rubs his head back and forth on the carpet. I think he likes the sensation. Ben also has sensitive skin. At 8.5 months, the ecxema finally cleared on his face, but he still gets it behind his knees. Unless he gets really dirty, we only give him a bath 3x/week. Guest guest
When I take Leahs band off for her bath she likes to have a headrub...lol Then she gets a bath and a good shampooing. Leah is very fair skinned and has sensitive skin along with eczema type patches. I find that phisoderm gentle baby skin cleanser is gentle enough to use daily and aquaphor on dry patches works wonders. I have not applied it to areas where the band touches though. The only thing I was told I could use in VERY small amounts on sensitive areas under the band is .5% hydrocortisone cream. > > Cade's rash finally cleared up and he's been back in his starband since > Saturday. Guest guest
Jenn, If you are not seeing anything on the scalp, he is just feeling all the fine little baby hairs standing back up,lol. This is my favorite question, because my Dominick used to do this and we used to laugh and laugh. If you give his head a good rub all over when you take the band off he won't do it as much, or you can blow on his head and watch him try to figure out what's going on, usuallu results in a giggle session. Guest guest
Jen. Hi! My daughter's 1st helmet was the star band and she had major rashes with that helmet. To the point of going into the hospital. We had to use a prescription steriod cream to help her and then I just could not see her in that much misery from the itching. I decided to switch helmets and go with the doc band from cranial tech. We have no rashes and no problems. I starting to wonder if its different material the helmets are made out of. My daughter had ezceme too but with the new helmet nothing. Just thoughts. Good luck and Ive been there and it will get better. Jenifer- mother of Ellie Rose -14 months with 3rd helmet. <adopted_daughter@...> wrote: When I take Leahs band off for her bath she likes to have a headrub...lol Then she gets a bath and a good shampooing.
