Happy Holidays to all!

I thought I'd share my success story...6 years in the making!

I originally got into Neurofeedback to help with my insomnia and resulting depression.

I quickly found VanDeusen and started using his protocols.

Hot temporals helped, beta down in the parietals helped...but nothing helped completely.

I have sky-high alpha parietally and occipitally...nothing has helped bring that down!

Summer of 2006 I started LENS...again, it helped, but not completely...

the quest continued.

The LENS tends to make you more aware of your sensitivities...and soon I was noticing how bad I felt, or how hard my heart was beating after eating things I was allergic too...including wheat. So I cleaned up my diet some more....and more...and more....I haven't had chocolate of any extent in years!

Sleep hygiene I followed to a "T"...and got rid of EMF as much as possible too....all helped, but I was still experiencing some nights that I wasn't getting to sleep until 4am.

Lots of sleep supplements too: 5-HTP or tryptophan, GABA, B6, magnesium, calcium, melatonin....

relaxation techniques, self-hypnosis....breathing...

One night I had done "everything right"....including being nice and relaxed, no impending crises....but still my heart was pounding, I was up until 4am.

I've been going to holistic healers most of my life, and often refer my clients to our local heroes. I was in to see one of these heroes, a DO who does manipulations, and he asked me, "what did you have for dinner that night?" Well, I'd had a small steak....and he said, It's your gallbladder....it's revved up and you can't sleep! I've been doing some gallbladder flushes and that's helping too.

The food allergies are the big culprit....if I eat something I react to, my heart pounds. Hard to get to sleep with your heart pounding!!! (And I had thought that was anxiety I wasn't owning up to!)

I'm now sleeping great, as long as I'm 'good' and avoid the culprit foods. Still taking my sleep cocktail of supplements....at least until after the holidays!

So....there's more to sleep success than just brain waves (we all knew this of course...). My story is just a good example to encourage you to encourage your clients to explore the whole picture.

So, Happy Holidays to all, and to all a GOOD NIGHT!
