Guest guest
Hi Donna, I'm not sure how many people are on tonight, so I will try to help. We used baby oil on Sam BEFORE he ever got his DOC band, so I don't have any experience on the 2 together. I used regular 's baby shampoo and/or Baby Magic baby wash to clean his head after the baby oil. Sometimes it took 2 or 3 washings during one bath, but I don't remember it ever remaining oily. How much oil did you use? When I did it, I used just a little, then gently scrubbed it with a soft toothbrush, then into the bath for a good degreasing. The cradle cap was gone in just a few days. How often do you clean the Starband with alcohol? We cleaned the DOC bands every day, so I would think that would take care of the oil that rubbed off onto the band. I don't think it will hurt the band since natural skin oils don't hurt it, but I would probably call your orthotist on Monday just to make sure. Hope this helps. Gail, Sam and Sara's mom, DOC grads HELP! helmet-care question hi everyone, okay, ryan had his 9 mos check up the other day and our pedi suggested i use baby oil on his scalp to get rid of some cradle cap he has. so tonight my husband rubs on the oil thinking it will come out in the shampoo - - NOT! come to find out it will probably not wash out for a couple of days. So we stuck his little greasy beaner back in his helmet and put the guy to bed.are we going to ruin/damage his helmet in anyway? my dh feels the oil will come off the interior of the helmet as it is washed and we use the alcohol to wipe weekly. maybe we can use the alcohol consecutively til the baby oil is gone from ryan's hair?what do you guys think? thanks, donna, richmond varyan, 9 mos, starbanded 11/02 - estimated graduation date: 3 mos!!For more plagio info
Guest guest
Our pedi had us use Eucerin cream for cradle cap. It works really well, and washes out much easier than baby oil. I would be afraid that prolonged exposure to baby oil would eventually damage would damage the foam lining of the band.
Guest guest
I used vasaleine on my boys and never had a problem getting it out. I would put it on them five minutes before bath and then stick them in the tub. It would wash right out when I used shampoo.
