Guest guest
first of all want to say there has been many kids who have improved remarkably on ac chelation so you are trying a good thing. second of all..when my son is going balistic i will cut out all supps..give him a couple days of my veggie soup with veggies i feel he does well with. then i slowly add foods in one every couple days wait for reaction. then after his foods i add in supps one at a time and wait for bad or good reaction. you need a journal write down all behaviors good or bad and what he ate supps ect..even bowel movements tell you al lot! my son started a new supp last night. he went nuts a hour later..this morning his poop was yellow and thin..that to me is sign of inflammation. so i dont give said supp anymore..(well it goes in my cupboard wehwere i take all my sons leftover sups) point is be a detective..oh and i tought i heard creatine is helpful for the inccestant humming in some kids. hope this helps some. channa > > Hi, > > Sorry, it's a long one but might be relevant. My son is 6 years old and has a diagnosis of ASD. He regressed at age 3 years 4 months. Since the age of 4 he's been on GF/CF diet, only this and Omega 3 made a difference (eye contact, a little speech, eating better and using the toilet). In addition to this I've been giving supps for 2 years. He's been seen by 3 well known specialist, including Dr Goyal, had numerous tests and tried many treatments but still no gains. Dr Goyal referred him to an Immunologist who did more blood test but nothing came back abnormal. So we've now started chelation which I'm hoping will start to work as we get into it. He's had 2 rounds of DMSA at 5mg per dose. The supps he's currently taking to support the chelation are as follows: > > Everything Spectrum Essential Multi - 1 capsule 3 x per day > Milk Thistle Extract - 1/4 cap 4 x per day > Everything Spectrum Essential 4 - 1 capsule 4 x per day > Biocare Vit A - 1 drop 4 x / day > Biocare Molybdenum - 1 drop 2 x / day > Biocare Lipocell – 4 x 5ml per day > Thorne Adrenal Cortex - 1 capsule am > NOW Biotin - 1 capsule 3 x per day > TriEnza Digestive Enzymes - 1 cap 4 x per day with meals > Kirkman Sacc. B - 1 x capsule bedtime > Candex - 1 capsule bedtime > Custom CP1 Probiotics - 2 capsule bedtime > Lee Silsby Magnesium Sulfate Cream - as required > > (I have a spreadsheet listing all the individual quantities if of interest) > > I plan to add ALA between round 5 and 10. > > The problems we are seeing are due to anxiety and stress I think, but I don't know why. He doesn't seem to want to do anything or go anywhere anymore. Over the school holidays he's only had a handful of days out. He's only happy in the garden for about 10 minutes at a time before his mood changes. Even the park stresses him at the moment. He's lost interest in toys, puzzles, drawing, and TV seems to bring on anxiety/stress. He wont get in the bath anymore even if I carry him in, he wont put any part of his body in the water, holds on to me and screams. So I have to wash him all over with a sponge next to the bath (this he doesn't mind). At one time he would spend about an hour laying in the bath and loved it. Since starting chelation he's now crying in the car before we've even got anywhere. So I upped the probiotics and the Candex and added Biotin and Sacc B to help with yeast. > > He has always hummed since regression and very little speech but the humming is getting louder and he's puffing out his cheeks and holding his breath. When he lets it out he's usually rolling around the floor if at home or throwing himself on the sofa. He does have a good understanding of what's being said to him and not shutting down at all but the speech is very repetitive in between the humming. I know none of this behaviour is unusual in Autism but I've not seen any gains in 2 years and was hoping that someone could advise if I'm missing something or doing something wrong. My worst fear is that I am making him worse. > > Thank you > > Helen >

Guest guest
oh forgot to mention...enzymes and probiotics can be problematic..i would look at those first if it were me:) and there is always yeast/bacteria/parasites I would look at those after i went thru the supps and made sure its not the supps making anything worse > > Hi, > > Sorry, it's a long one but might be relevant. Guest guest
Helen, Your son sounds a bit like mine, and we have gone very long stretches without a single gain, and also had regressions that caused the loss of any gains we did make. It is very, very difficult. I agree that you should try upping adrenal support. Mandi is right, my son needed and still needs lots. While chelation has helped my son, and he clearly was metal toxic, it hasn`t been the answer to his autism. I am happy I did it because, everything else aside, I wouldn`t want any of my kids to be metal toxic. Some kids don`t do well with dmsa. Here, we have to keep doses very low because of the emotional side effects (even for me). We do better on ALA and we have seen on tests a lot of metals moving with small doses of ALA. We have seen improvements with Neuroprotek. My son needs large doses of antioxidants. Clearly, we have viral issues. Some of our biggest gains have been trying to address viruses.
