Guest guest
Just a short update on our last two rounds of chelation. As previously, we have been using 5mg DMSA and 5mg ALA. We are now getting the hang of the rounds and amazingly, thanks to seeing some really good positives, hubby is completely on board, so much so that he is reminding me when the next round is due!! I have just had my first decent nights sleep during a round too. This has taken longer than I expected - take note those of you who are thinking of starting chelation. As I have said in previous reports, it is harder on you than your child in most cases. This is not what I imagined and worried about! Positives A major positive is ' hearing. He has always had VERY sensitive hearing since being little and it has progressively got worse more recently. We have noticed that his hearing is sensitive on day 1, much better by day 2 and 3. Off round, this carries on and although it gets worse by the time the next round is due, overall it is a huge improvement which we did not expect to see for ages yet. Speech is slowly improving. More sentence structure and the start of using past tense without thinking about it. Comprehension definitely improving. We have had meaningful conversations for the first time ever. Has also shown that he can sequence things which he could not do before. Negatives The negatives I reported last time when coming off round have been eliminated (thank you Kirsty!). The only one I see now is verbal stimming which is happening off round and on the start of day 1. We have noticed that has started using his tongue between his teeth when pronouncing the letter 'n' and at a couple of other times too. This is new but it may just be that as his speech is improving and speeding up its crept in. Will drop a note to the speech therapist when he goes back to school. We are now just about to come off round 5. I have decided to report on just one more round which will be the first running into a school week.
