Guest guest
Hi Angelo Somewhat tangential to your question but maybe related. I recently read but will have to back track to find the specific reference of a correlation between facial sensations and arm phatom limb pain. Maybe FP1 is closely mapped to the arm on the sensory motor cortex for this individual. Mark Pins and needles I am training a young man referred by a psychiatrist and diagnosed with Depression. I have started training with Cory Hammond’s 2-channels Depression protocol (F3-A1; Fp1-A1; A2). We have done 4 sessions so far. This young man reports sensations, like pins and needles, in the left side of his left hand. These sensations start about 2 hours after the session and last about 2 days. I am puzzled and wonder whether or not these symptoms are at all related to the training. Has anyone any suggestions? Guest guest
Angelo, 1. Did you assess his brain? What did that show? Depression can have many signatures in the brain's activation patterns and, with all due respect to Cory Hammond, no one protocol can fix them all. 2. You told us where you are training (all left frontal), but not WHAT you are training? What inhibits and/or rewards are you using at those two sites? 3. Perhaps most important: has anything happened vis-a-vis the depression? Getting focused on the side-effects to the exclusion of what it is you are actually trying to achieve would be a mistake. If he's having this physical response but no positive response to the emotional issues, then why are you continuing? Move on to the next option in your plan. 4. " Left side of his left hand--and only there--suggests maybe a right-sided response, but a highly specific one. Pins and needles can be related to an autonomic shift from sympathetic (fight-or-flight) to parasympathetic (rest-and-digest) mode, which would probably be good in a person with Tone issues. It suggests that blood may be returning to extremities after a long time being held in the central core of the body--but it sure is a very small and specific response. Guest guest
This could also be positional.... how was he sitting in the chair, did he have his arms on an arm rest, did he have his shoulders at a certain tightness...these can all affect the arms. I used to have my arms get tingly and numb because of my arm/armrest position and being that way for ~20 mins while training. Re: Pins and needles Angelo, 1. Did you assess his brain?
