Guest guest
Pat, my Allie cries when I take her inside her grandparents' house. I'm certain she thinks I'm going to leave her. She does very well when I'm not there, but that separation is so hard on her. She also is fine out in the yard. In the yard she can see our van and I think that gives her relief that she can chase me down if I try to leave her, lol. I used to have panick attacks. Not fun at all, many people with autism report awful anxiety. My daughter Allie (5yrs old also) seems to be afraid of the dark. we have had power failures on occasion and yes, she gets very scared, crying and hysterical. Usually putting her in my bed and holding her with the covers completely over her head is what calms her. She has the safety of her blankets and knows I'm there. I'm so sorry for your niece's family situation. Divorce is difficult enough for a typical child, I cannot imagine how much worse it could be with a child who cannot express herself easily. I would suggest if dad feels his place is inappropriate for him to stay with you on the nights you all have her. Sounds like she wants her dad very badly. Guest guest
- I would be interested to know if anyone has suggestions about anxiety. I have two kids that have issues with this. It sends them to tears.
