I don't know what state you live in, but am wondering if you are receiving all the services you can through the Dept. of Mental Retardation (DMR). Again, I don't know your state, but there is respite, but also emergency family supports and in some states there are grants designed to help a family keep kids at home. If you haven't already done so or haven't done so lately, I urge you to call your area contacts for these departments and tell them what you are going through and what you need, and mince no words. Don't let the stress push you over the edge, ask for help. We will pray for you, but don't hesitate asking for help. Social services can give you a social worker to help you. They know all the " extras " out there that you may be able to get like respite, counseling, etc. You cannot do this on your own, even with typical kids. Don't be afraid to ask... Open your bible, and find some verses to strengthen you...remember The Lord knows what you're going through, and He is with you always! But often we have to reach out for the help He provides in human form. When you have a few minutes to use the telephone, start with social services. In Michigan we have a Children's Waiver program. Staff comes to the home to provide help for the families...very often they become part of the family. Respite services are available, even a monthly AI stipend, unless you're over the amount. No one understand what you're going through, except maybe us, so please check out these sources, and let them know the stress is overwhelminng you. It's nothing to be ashamed of. This whole week end has been of one crisis after another and I to be just so sick from it and feel as not able to keep going. I to tried to be of words and in some list simply ignored as if not exist at all and other lists I to be of back and forth of words often but it is of such a scary place to be at sometimes when you feel as if you are done in life and catnt find any to understand the real need fo support you to need at the time. This is all so hard and so frightening, but I do feel blessed to have found this group. Even though I don't post much, I don't feel so alone know you are all out there with me. I have also learned so much about my daughter, especially from Sondra. Without you (Sondra) I would never understand many of the behaviors my daughter has. You and she seem to be very much alike in many ways. We can make it day by day. We just need to remember that we are not alone and ask for help.
