Guest guest
Right now I'm seriously considering changing doctors for the simple fact a few weeks ago, I felt like I was coming down with a cold, which with me always leads to bronchitis, so I called, because the last time I was in, the doctor said we could of just called it in, because they always give me the same thing.. Well, I called and left a message for her to call me in my "usual" to my pharmacy. She didn't even have the respect to call me and tell me that she wasn't going to call anything in, I had to find that out myself after calling the pharmacy the next day to see if anything had been called in. Plus she got "snippy" when I took family medical leave papers in for her to fill out for my husband, (so he's able to take off and care for the kids when I'm really down and out, and since having my severe asthma attack that almost took my life in October, things haven't been all that great, and I can't be trusted to stay home alone at night with 2 kids when my asthma is flaring up.) She told me his doctor should fill them out, I was like "huh" what does "his" doctor know about "My asthma" so with a little hesitation she filled them out, but since then it seems like she is ignoring me when I do call. So time for a change, I think...

Guest guest
How do you get a jump on things? So far I haven't been able to recognize what is happening to me. I guess the tightness is a signal I need to learn to pay attention to. But short of calling for antibiotics I would like to find another way to ward it off. Re: Newbie here I've been averaging bronchitis about every 2-3 months. Sometimes a little longer if I'm lucky and I get a jump on things before they get out of hand. Guest guest
I think it's the whole practice.. Before I was with a different doctor within the practice and she wouldn't even give me a home nebulizer.. I had to go to the allergist in order to get one. Guest guest
Keep tabs on your blood sugars on prednisone. I have diabetes now from having to take that stuff so much. Don't mean to scare you but that stuff is hard on the body. mrslentz@... wrote: For me I kind of know when I'm heading down the road to bronchitis, so I'll up using me nebulizer and sometimes that will help me. Guest guest
Please take care. I know it is so hard with asthma to deal with the added stress that bronchitis puts on the lungs. If the drs are so knotheaded about this find another dr if possible. You need a dr who will take you seriously, and who will treat you with respect as to your needs and wants. Mine only uses steriods as an absolutely last resort, so I usually use extra albuterol and neb more. My dr also added Theophylline and Singulair. It has helped quite a bit. Another thing to think about is the outside air quality on a given day. I know it is hard to stay inside all the time when you work or go to school (I go to college) but when you have to be out use the air in your car and I carry a mask with me. If people stare sweetly say I like to breathe. Pollen around here is a big problem. I live in upper-east Tennessee. One city in our area is number 5 on the Asthma and Allergy Foundation's worst asthma cities list. That's because of all the different types of pollens around here. Take care. mrslentz@... wrote: I know that. I was worried with the last course I was on due to the side effects and they treated me like I was crazy. Guest guest
Yep, time for a change if she doesn't care for you any better than that. Tell her to blow off. It is really rediculous how some drs. do that and still stay in business. Mine is pretty good about trusting my judgment but I usually have to go in when my asthma kicks up because he likes to get a listen to see how bad it is. If things get so bad that you can't be home alone with the kids and the dr isn't taking that seriously, then I'd definitely find another dr. There is something wrong with that picture. mrslentz@... wrote: Right now I'm seriously considering changing doctors for the simple fact a few weeks ago, I felt like I was coming down with a cold, which with me always leads to bronchitis, so I called, because the last time I was in, the doctor said we could of just called it in, because they always give me the same thing.. Guest guest
- Luckily you have asthma, but people who have Yahoo also have an added feature on My Yahoo! that allows you to track the pollen and air quality in your area. I've got mine up and runing right now and check it every so often. --- cynthia canter wrote: > > Please take care. Guest guest
I found that already, and love it. I also keep tabs on weather.com. This is the Weather Channel's site. You can put in your zip code and get weather and pollen reports there, too. One of our local newspapers also prints air quality reports. I can compare notes from all sources and decide how to deal with going outside and whether I need to carry my mask or I can leave it home. Thanks for the heads up on that.
