We go to SLC, our daughter started with significant rotation and it is good that you are addressing it now. As Heidi said, they require the child and 1 parent to stay in the hospital on the 1st visit/cast. You can bring the other child with you, but someone will need to watch them and be with them at all times. So, if your daughter is going alone, this wouldn't work, but if you or another adult is going, the other child could come.We have a 9 yr old daughter and we started bringing her along on our trips. We found that helps, since our girls entertain each other. So, if the children get along well, it can be helpful, but if they are both fighting for Mom's attention, that could be overwhelming. We go to SLC- and love it- the first cast, they allow one parent or guardian to stay overnight in the hospital room. One or both parents and the grandparent (I am pretty sure) could be there on casting day and for appointments. I don't know the exact rules, but my husband and I are both there the whole time. There is that rule about only one (adult) person staying overnight in the hospital room, as far as I know.The following castings, from 2 on, we were allowed to leave in the late afternoon and all stay at our hotel nearby together. It's only 10 minutes from the hospital and we would drive right back if need be, but there has never been a problem. We ask ahead of time to do so. If we need to, we can come back in the AM for an adjustment- if the cast is too tight somewhere, etc...but that

has not happened yet.Being tenacious is the sign of excellent parenting, in my book! ; ) That's very good news that you have your appointment. I'm not a doctor, of course, but correcting the rotation is key to stopping the curve from progressing- as I understand it. Hello all,

We finally have our 1st casting appointment - my daughter was tenacious in getting it arranged - I am so proud of her! We originally had an evaluation appointment set for January 27, but she asked if her records could be reviewed and possibly cast on the 1st appointment - and that is the plan now. Londynn's curve is not huge (23*) lying down but her rotation is high - so that is what we will be focusing on - at least for now. He offered to let us wait - but also said that rotation never corrects itself - so off we go. We are both excited and nervous about the procedure - but reading all of your stories helps. We will be in SLC Feb 10-12 - will anyone of you be there too? I would really like to meet some of you in person.

Another question we have - do any of you ever take your other children with you to casting appointments? Do 2 adults or both parents go? My daughter also has a 3 year old that has not been away from her or I for more than over night - we are afraid of this being difficult on her too.
