Guest guest
Hi everyone!!! first sorry about the long post .... I have a daughter with asthma, she is 4 years old. she had her first asthma attack in Feb 2003 (right before she turned 3) it was severe and sudden when we got to the peds office her pulse ox was 85 they got her stable and she was admitted to the hospital. she has been hospitalized in: Feburary 2003 (very cold weather) September 2003 (hot hot hot) April 2004 (blooming season) June 2004 (raining alot with hot humid days) there have been many other times where she has been sick but with some breathing treatments at the peds office and oral steriods at home she did not have to be admitted. currently she is on: pulmicort 0.5 mg twice day in a nebulizer machine foradil 12 mcg powder mixed in with the pulmicort twice day singular 5mg daily xopenex 0.63mg as needed when she starts wheezing twice day in the nebulizer machine atrovent 2 puffs every 6 hours when using the xopenex albeterol as needed according to her asthma action plan after this last hospital admission they want to possibly put her on daily or every other day steriods. she has seen a allergist who tested her with the most common allergies, she tested allergic to cats, dogs, and roaches we have none of those. I have done everything I have read about to keep dust down, plastic covers on the beds i wash her sheets in hot water everyday (yes everyday!!) we have hepa filter on the vaccum, special filters in the air conditioner, we have hardwood floors in half the house (thinking about taking out the carpet in the bedrooms and putting in hardwood)i dust and vaccum at night when she is not in the room. only a few stuffed animals all which are washable and get thrown in monthly with hot water. does anyone know of any other things we can do in the house or ways to help control her asthma attacks?? She is on all the meds they can think of to give her. we have tried flovent 110 then the 220 We have 5 kids 4 of them have asthma but the other 3 siblings are controlled pretty good with thier meds (just flovent twice a day) they do have times where they are wheezing but the breathing treatments and meds work and they are able to get past it. any info or web sites would be greatly appreciated! thanks shar
