Guest guest
Actually blowing up that guy / girl is a bad idea. As there is no other entrance, when you stick the dynamite up his ass, you are going to kindle a lot of inflammable gases as well, causing a back explosion and killing all in the process. This is an apt indicated case for radical lipectomy, instead! You could try pulling him inside too, using his limbs and any appendages which are strong enough. Guest guest
Dear Kishore, Hmm! Why didn't I think of this one? > You could try pulling him inside too, using his limbs and any appendages > which are strong enough. Of course, I would never have thought of pulling any appendages (that is your style?) :-D Has to be a guy, you wouldn't be able to pull any female appendages I'm sure! The best thing to do in this situation would be to use a plasma gun (or a BFG) (ever played Quake III?) and just vaporize this gentleman/lady! And wasn't there something to do with water filling up in the cave soon? He/she would be a good stopper! Why bother? :-D Ravin '

Guest guest
I have been reading the interesting responses. none of these actually came up in the ethical discussion. Shows how fertile the minds of mgmis'ians' is. the point being what is correct what is not. if u said blow up the guy, then would u do it if the guy was your son? so there is no ight or wrong in this world. all is relative. you follow the rules of society at that time. if there was no bad there would be no good. if there ws no all there would be no short. have a think... Guest guest
sorry to say malini and others - there is only one truth - truth is not relative - the simple solution in this scenario is - all nineteen people use their combined mental and physical faculties to get this guy out and save their own lives - in doing so if they all die - they would have done very enlightening thing - in the process there souls will be blessed and liberated - simple solutions - if one understands truth life becomes very simple - i agree with malini that good will be called only good if bad exists - but there is only one good and and one bad - theory of relativity does not apply here - i openly challenge that if this argument does not die i will make you all see the simple truth - grow up - be enlightened - which is nothing but recognizing that there is only one truth - this understanding makes living life very very easy - please read mahatma gandhi's " my experiments with truth " humbly , ashok 1984 p.s. yes self preservation is supremely important but not at the cost of taking another human life - let us evolve to respect our fellow humans first - then we will think of animal life - and then plant life - the only thing ofcourse we don't have worry or care about right away is nonliving !! lprasad wrote: I have been reading the interesting responses. none of these actually came up in the ethical discussion. Guest guest
sorry to say malini and others - there is only one truth - truth is not relative - the simple solution in this scenario is - all nineteen people use their combined mental and physical faculties to get this guy out and save their own lives - in doing so if they all die - they would have done very enlightening thing - in the process there souls will be blessed and liberated - simple solutions - if one understands truth life becomes very simple - i agree with malini that good will be called only good if bad exists - but there is only one good and and one bad - theory of relativity does not apply here - i openly challenge that if this argument does not die i will make you all see the simple truth - grow up - be enlightened - which is nothing but recognizing that there is only one truth - this understanding makes living life very very easy - please read mahatma gandhi's " my experiments with truth " humbly , ashok 1984 p.s. yes self preservation is supremely important but not at the cost of taking another human life - let us evolve to respect our fellow humans first - then we will think of animal life - and then plant life - the only thing ofcourse we don't have worry or care about right away is nonliving !! lprasad wrote: I have been reading the interesting responses. none of these actually came up in the ethical discussion. Malini We wish you a very happy day L/M Prasad (lp1960@...) Kishore, 1. The tide is going to rise behind me, surely I can swim out of the back? 2. If water can come in (and go out), so can I? :-| 3. If this guy is stuck bad, real bad, air can't go out if the tide comes in, the compressed air behind him will either shoot out the guy at the exit, or won't let the tide come in? :-D What say you? Actually blowing up that guy / girl is a bad idea. As there is no other entrance, when you stick the dynamite up his ass, you are going to kindle a lot of inflammable gases as well, causing a back explosion and killing all in the process. This is an apt indicated case for radical lipectomy, instead! You could try pulling him inside too, using his limbs and any appendages which are strong enough. Guest guest
You are absolutely right, Malini, It is indeed a dilemma which requires great deliberation. There is no right or wrong answer. A similar situation has arisen in the AIIMS. They have concocted a vaccine which could be effective against the HIV virus and its various mutations. However, three years ago, Maneka Gandhi, as a minister, had prohibited animal, especially animal testing. Since three years, this vaccine could not be tested hence its use in human beings cannot be done, because some rule does not want to hurt innocent animals. Recently, the government has relaxed this rule and probably testing will proceed under controls. But the point to be pondered here is " Should we allow the deliberate infection of animals for the betterment of mankind " In the process many animals are going to die or suffer. However, the benefit to the human race will be great. Also note that no in vitro testing can be done of this vaccine.
