Guest guest
Hiya , If I'm not mistakesn a few of the drugs that were listed in Dr Baker's report are new to FDA...like Rebif is for MS...Viramideine is for the flu..I may be mistaken, but if you go to the FDA site they list them that way. Kindly correct me if I'm wrong. Thanks elizabethnv1 wrote: The Search for Improved Treatments for Chronic Hepatitis CBy Baker, PhDDespite the improvement in hepatitis C therapy offered by the pegylated interferons Pegasysand PegIntron, more than half of individuals with chronic hepatitis C do not achieve a sustainedresponse from these treatments, which also are relatively expensive and may produceserious or even life-threatening adverse events. In addition, certain patient groups experience consistently inferior virological responses tocombination treatment with interferon and ribavirin, including African Americans, personswith genotypes 1 and 4 and HIV-HCV coinfected individuals. There is a pressing need for the development of new therapies to address these and other shortcomings of the currently available treatments. As a result, studies of various experimentaltherapies representing a variety of approaches are moving forward in the research pipeline.
