Vegas,

It is common to have anxiety or panic attacks with asthma.

Sort of a vicious cycle. You worry about an attack, so you get a panic

attack, which escalates in to Asthma.

Been there done it.. :)

Best is to be medicated right, than you do not fear the panic attacks

and are more confident.

Also Xanax will help with panic attacks, but not really a good choice,

because it's addictive.

I used to have a Wisenheimer kid that would say: " You can't get mad at

me, than you can't breathe " !

I also went to that cycle badly when pregnant which would throw me into

labor pains, early.

I have suffered from both for years. I have learned to control the panic attacks with breathing and calming myself however when I have a allergic reaction or asthma attach I have a hard time knowing when I am haveing a panic attack at the same time. Years ago my doctor told me if I am haveing asthma problems drink something hot...I drink caffine free hot tea. I have also found that if I am haveing a double problems a shower seems to help I think because it's soothing and if the pollens high it washes everything off of me. I used to take prosac but I have found life more meaningful learning to deal with anixity and depresion natural ways which are cut out sugar and take walks and keep buzy. I also took a few zanax but they made me feel like I was going to die. However when I was at the peak of haveing both problems my doctor gave me sirax and it worked great and was cheap. Also try not to go shopping at busy times of the day crowded stores just add to the stress. I hope this helps you best wishes, Amy

I have had cronic asthma for ten years. I had asthma as a child but managed to fight it off. Now I'm starting to get panic attacks when I get shortness of breath or bend over to reach or pick up something.I may be home or at a store when this happens. I have joined a panic attack group but nothing on there about asthma and panic attacks. Does anyone have this problem? Thanks for your time. Peggie in Las Vegas

==================================

oh yeah it's a common thing to panic when you have asthma. my panic

attacks i think got worse when i got diagnosed with asthma thinking

everything was asthma. got a peak flow meter and i started using it to

check see where my peak flow was to tell if there was asthma or not

present and that helped alot just to know which one i was having. once

i started to do that the panic attacks got better. maybe you have

another reason to panic but this was mine cause i never had asthma then

all of a sudden i got it then that wasn't enough then it had to get

severe then i really panic. but i think it's common to have panic

attacks with asthma cause what's asthma it takes your breathe away and

if you can't breathe you gonna panic just natural. but there's other

reasons you could be panic too. you just have to figure out what your

reason is. finding out the problem is half of the solution right?
