Tara,

You said you have seen some improvement? At 8 months his

improvement will not be as quick as say a 4 month old and the

results may not seem as dramatic. If you have seen some

improvement then I would say there is no need to panic. What

kind of experience does your ortho have? Remember that every

baby is different and the rate of improvement varies greatly. Also,

the estimated time in the band is just that - an estimate. Keep in

mind that there is no way for the ortho to know for sure how long

any given child will have to wear the band. Make sure you voice

your concerns to the specialist tomorrow. Getting his opinion on

the situation should be helpful.

Keep us posted and let us know what the dr says tomorrow.

My daughter is 7.5 mo and has been in her DOCBand 6 weeks now. I've

seen some significant improvement. We were told it would be off by

the end of Jan, making it a total of 10 weeks.

It also depends on how significant the headshape was to begin with.

Your child might be making improvements you just don't notice because

you could be focused on another area of the head.

I would speak w/the clinician and ask him/her what they think of your

baby's progress.

Wow, 10 weeks is fast for a 7 1/2 mos. old isn't it?...was your

daughter very mild? My son was 8 mos when he started - wore the DOC

band for 10 or 11 weeks, then we stopped because he was battling

other illnesses, now at 14 mos. we are looking to do another band I

think. I hope your daughter is done in 10 weeks, that would be

awesome!

Sheila,

Really good point there. I was very focused on the back right and CT would say, look at this top left area, it has filled in- and I would say, I never knew that was really that bad, until they explained and pointed things out.
