Guest guest
I have seen a lot of children do very well on Paxil or Lexapro, but most doctors won't perscribe before age 6 unless the anxiety is causing serious problems like SIB, or vomiting to the point of weight loss. (I've seen that too.) Even for over 6, there has to be a clear need for it, although usually if you are asking it is because there is. Just a note on vaccines, I have worked with kids who, for one reason or another were NOT vaccinated, and were still autistic. There's a different trigger for everyone, and you can't know what is the trigger for your child. Even if you manage to avoid one, it doesn't mean you can prevent the autism. I don't think people should give up on looking for the cause, because that's the only way we're going to be able to find a prevention, but keep in mind there are surely multiple causes, as well as multiple treatments.
