Hi Thank you very much for your interest in the PAWS project. The workshops are open to parents of children aged between 3-16 years, with a clinical diagnosis of autism. Families are welcome whether they have a pet dog or not. They are designed to provide parents with the information and long-term support for sourcing, choosing, handling and training a pet dog specifically to benefit a child with autism and the family as a whole. Following the workshops, the PAWS team will offer ongoing support to families, through a variety of media, from telephone support to an online forum and family support network. Parents attend a series of three one-day workshops. Please note that pet dogs do not come along to the workshops as we have our own “pet dogs” which we use for demonstrations/practise. We currently have in place a series of Workshops in Surrey and Banbury which may be suitable for you. Please be aware that places are allocated on a first come, first served basis.
