Guest guest
To me this sounds like post viral syndrome - when you google this it comes up as the infamous " ME " but it is not, it is a syndrome recognised in mainstream medicine. I was diagnosed with it following a viral infection about 10 years ago. I had to see a neurologist (who agreed with the GP's diagnosis of Post Viral Syndrome) as I had terrible peripheral neuropathy which was pain in my hands and feet. The pain was intermittent and would wake me at night and also I had recurring pain in my legs. I don't know if your son is having those symptoms - it doesn't sound like it's as bad as I had (as he would be crying) but he could be having some kind of neurological or neuromuscular pain that is post-viral. NSAIDs such as neurofen helped (and I was put on amitryptiline for the PN) and if it is post viral syndrome it will pass. Also if his eyes were sunken he was obviously very dehydrated, this can cause a lot of problems so make sure he's getting properly rehydrated including salts. (I'm sure you have done this but just to make sure!) Anyway, that's another line of thinking about what may be wrong. I hope he's doing better already. What is going on??? My 4yr old son is just getting over a tummy bug, he was very sick with it, being sick a lot and had a very upset tummy, he was very white, his eyes looked sunken it was awful to see this lasted for about 4 days. He started getting his appetite back on Sunday and the sickness/diarrhea has now gone, but since then a lot of his old ways have come back, he is grinding his teeth constantly he is very aggressive and last night was really bad, he went to bed at 7pm woke at 10, so I tried to calm him but he was kicking and shouting (a lot more words)he eventually went back to sleep woke up at 3am and has been up ever since, he drops off to sleep for about 5 mins and wakes again???? its like hes fighting to go sleep. I have no idea what is going on??? My 2yr old daughter had the same bug but she had it for 48hrs, just sickness and diarrhea. It seems like he has gone back a year with the aggressiveness & grinding but kept his words and maybe even gained some. Any ideas?? what should I do, he is on the SCD diet so not really putting anything bad into him. SOrry for the long post. Sophie x
Guest guest
Hi Sophie, We have similar issues. Like you the slightest sniffle makes me panic because we have had serious regressions with colds. (When I told the paediatrician this recently, I got more of a reaction than expected incl referrals to metabolics and gosh). Thinking bck, on one occasion that's when he started teeth-grinding, which also coincided with the start of his clostridia issues. What's worked for us in terms of reducing colds and viruses is lots of antioxidants, vit c with every meal, goji berry formula, selenium, etc. etc., plus zinc, and eating lots of berries, pomegranate juice. So much his teeth are stained like red wine or coffee! And I give ibuprofen if I think he's getting a cold as quick fix for inflammation. He's also on propranolol now which I think helps to boost his immune system (correct me if I'm wrong Natasa!) This seems to keep back the colds, but we still have issues with oxidative sterss - this was from the organic acids test. Hope you can manage to keep him healthy - I know it's the season for these things. best wishes. nah > > > > > ** > > > > > > > > > What is going on??? > > > My 4yr old son is just getting over a tummy bug, he was very sick with it, > > > being sick a lot and had a very upset tummy, he was very white, his eyes > > > looked sunken it was awful to see this lasted for about 4 days.
