Guest guest
- So glad to hear the casting went well and the ride home was so pleasant! I can feel your frustration with the drives. It is so hard driving with two kids of that age. I can't imagine doing it alone every other week! Yikes! I'm glad Caleb was able to entertain himself. Hope the band comes in quickly and this one works like a charm! Marci says such wonderful things about Bill. It's just too bad he wasn't closer to you! Have you ever considered Angel Flight to avoid the long car rides? Dane's mom DOC Grad
Guest guest
Well we made it. I was really debating about what I should do, and if we should try and see CT in KC. I spent a lot of time praying and considering our options. I decided that since Bill is so experienced I still felt it was in Lucas best interests to stay with his office. I have had a very hard time with putting him in a second band. I finally decided that it was the best thing for him and it would be 100X worse for me then him. I knew that I needed to continue to make the sacrifice of the driving etc so he could have the 2nd band and the improvement. Lucas did so great during the casting I was amazed, I was prepared for him to handle it much worse then he did. Bill was amazed that there has been some change in just the 2 weeks since we were there. The measurements improved and his helmet was more snug. He did say it still was not enough change to explain everything though. My Dh and I thought we were imagining the changes, guess not! Bill said he talked with Orthomerica and they were expecting our casting. He put a rush on it so it should be ready the first part of next week, we hope! So as frustrated as I am with 3 1/2 months and very little change I think maybe we are on the right track. I can only hope at least. Thanks to Debbie and for your support and encouragement. This past few months have been so hard I am so thankful I have had you both. Caleb was an angel the whole ride home. I was amazed!!! I spent $5 at the Dollar Tree and he was entertained all 6 hours in the car!!!!!!! He has never done that before, best $5 I ever spent. I actually didn't even have to stop and drove the whole way. The office should call the first part of the week when the helmet comes in, I will let you know. in SW MissouriCaleb 2 1/2 and Lucas 10 months (starbanded 1st time 8/26/2 and banded 2nd time on 12/12/2) & Lucas Hi :)So how did the 2nd casting go for Lucas yesterday? Guest guest
Hi ! I'm SOOO happy to hear how well your trip and the dreaded casting went yesterday. Sounds like Lucas handled it well and both they boys enjoyed their car ride. I think you'll have to make more trips to the dollar tree prior to your visits - LOL. I hope they get the new band in soon & I hope it does the trick. Keep us posted & thank you for your kind words Debbie Abby's mom DOCGrad MI > Well we made it. Guest guest
Hi , I don't have the drive like many of you. I just wanted to agree with you about my Jenna's ears. It is the thing that bothers me the most. I don't think they have improved to much. I really am praying for improvement. She will probably have her Starband until sometime in February. I hope they improve. Good luck with Lucas! Angie and Jenna(Starbanded 10/21) & Lucas Hi :Curious how Lucas is doing in his band? Guest guest
Thanks for the encouragement. I will not be taking Lucas this week, actually our appt was today. I have had some health concerns this week and my DR wants me to stay here. Also Lucas has had massive diarrhea and I mean MASSIVE. This child has never had a blowout, never. If anything his diapers are hard, very, very rarely are they soft. Last night it was every where, the back, the legs, even all over the front, and got Dad really good too. I wasn't even home to help clean him up and my DH did it all by himself, I was so proud. Well I digress, sorry for talking about poop!!!! Guest guest
Yuk ! I hope you all get better soon. Diarrhea is horrible, Abby had it for like a month straight when she was 8 or 9 mos old, then of course you're guaranteed a major diaper rash to go along with it. It's no fun. I got the good old " it's a virus & has to run it's course " . I was so totally frustrated! Threw away countless onesies & sleepers - they just weren't worth washing & cleaning! Guest guest
Debbie, Thanks for asking. Lucas has not been in his band because it was causing those dreaded red spots and he was starting to take it off! He has not been technically discharged as of yet. I suspect that he will be when we go back for all the tests in two weeks. We do see lots of improvement in the forehead bossing and flatness. The ear alignment is still off, but not noticeable to most people. I hate to admit it, but I have really put the plagio on the back burner. I have been so overwhelmed with all of his other needs. I went through a really deep depression when we were told about the PPD and hearing loss. It was all I could do to feed and clothe my boys everyday. So in a nutshell I think we are done with the band. I can not wait to post the "graduation' post after waiting 9 very long months!! Thanks to all!! Hi!!Boy have I missed you all. Thank you for all your well wishes and prayers they are much appreciated. Baby Alisia and I are doing well. She's a tiny little girl, she is up to 5 lbs 6 oz. Thankfully she is healthy!! I don't know how I'd handle it. You're obviously one helluva great and strong mom, he's so fortunate he has you. It does sound like it's time to be done w/the band. Guest guest
Debbie, Oh boy, you give me to much credit. I haven't handled it well at all, but hey I am not in denial anymore. That is progress and a step in the right direction. I agree, I guess we are done with band. I am anxious to make it official. I am glad we did and thankful we got as much correction as we did. Guest guest
Debbie, You are so sweet and thoughtful to ask. Yes we are okay. Lucas is doing well. We return to the ped. neuro in OKC on Weds. Hopefully we get the diagnosis of PDD "officially". This make it possible for Lucas to qualify for those "extra" services. The EI and therapy has been an absolute "god send", quite literally. I am holding up fairly well, the first few weeks were hard, but now I have accepted it and moved on. So what if things are more difficult for Lucas in some areas, things could be a lot worse. I know that there are some moms on the list who have kids facing more struggles then we are. The hardest part is when he is around other kids his age and it is painfully obvious that there is some serious deficits. I am soooooo glad we did the helmet. People have asked me how he his doing, I am so thrilled to tell them of his results. I hope others in my area will not be afraid to treat their kids, even if it is so far to go for treatment. We are keeping are fingers crossed that Caleb gets a spot for preschool this fall. I should know more on Tuesday afternoon. I start the BIG potty training adventure on Thursday. I can not believe he will be 3 a week from Weds. They really do grow so fast. Okay, sorry for rambling....this was probably more than you asked for.
