Guest guest
My son regresses badly after a virus/infection - even a trivial cold. His speech is affected and becomes slurred and even his walking becomes clumsy. Through yasko results and subsequent bio medical testing we have worked out this is due to increase of ammonia (following virus) which requires BH4. Because of the combination of his genetic SNPS he is low in BH4. It is essential for the nervous system but also for neurotransmitter balance.i e it is responsible for conversion of tryptophan to serotonin therefore a deficiency would mean low serotonin. When he has a virus we now lower protein immensely to lower ammonia (this is not hard as he refuses it anyway).Since our yasko results for my son he is on a high carb, low sulphur, low protein diet (quite opposite to most autism recommendations) and I cannot put into words the gains we are seeing. I know this won't fit all circumstances but its certainly helping to sort us out.Hope you get to the bottom of thisAlison R Anyone????? > > What is going on??? > My 4yr old son is just getting over a tummy bug, he was very sick with it, being sick a lot and had a very upset tummy, he was very white, his eyes looked sunken it was awful to see this lasted for about 4 days. He started getting his appetite back on Sunday and the sickness/diarrhea has now gone, but since then a lot of his old ways have come back, he is grinding his teeth constantly he is very aggressive and last night was really bad, he went to bed at 7pm woke at 10, so I tried to calm him but he was kicking and shouting (a lot more words)he eventually went back to sleep woke up at 3am and has been up ever since, he drops off to sleep for about 5 mins and wakes again???? its like hes fighting to go sleep. I have no idea what is going on??? > > My 2yr old daughter had the same bug but she had it for 48hrs, just sickness and diarrhea. > > It seems like he has gone back a year with the aggressiveness & grinding but kept his words and maybe even gained some. > > Any ideas?? what should I do, he is on the SCD diet so not really putting anything bad into him. > > SOrry for the long post. > Sophie x >
