I would recommend going very SLOWLY at first if you decide to try moccasins. For example, start out with your normal required routine, and see how you feel the next day. If you are OK, then add a SHORT extra walk (maybe even 100 feet? maybe 1000 feet?). Then wait another extra day and see how you feel, before deciding to repeat or extend it. By starting out slowly, you can give your body a chance to recover and adjust. Your body cannot heal and adapt if you overstress it in the beginning. >> You are talking to someone who makes moccasins and I would love nothing more than walking in them.. However, ORD surgery shortenend my one leg, balance is poor and the soles of moccs are too slick for my safety right now..Safety is my primary concern.Orthotics are necessary to have balance, being barefoot makes me look like a drunk sailor..:)But I am working on all of that, water walking 3 times a week and walker balance exercises..None of that will make my leg longer again, but at least I am retaining muscle tone and agility. But that's me. Big part of an Asthma 'cure' is to individually exploit whatever might work for us as an individual, whatever way it takes us. Guest guest
<<It turns out that women also suffer from more osteoporosis and arthritis as well among many other degenerative diseases. What do you think about this? >> Hormones.. Until menopause women are protected, but after that the BMD ( Bone Mass Density) goes way down. However, BMD is established when young and deficient diet during those years can effect this badly. The right ration of calcium/magnesium/ Vit.D can protect women when taken before, during and after menopause. Diet, such as caffeine, nicotine, pop also robbs the body of BMD. Guest guest
, I tried that position, was Ok, but I can't put my left foot flat on the floor, without wincing in pain or feeling something is over stretched. Also can't get up without rolling over and getting up sideways via help of my cane. Same when trying to kneel down and getting up. My right leg has to do double duty.. Might want to mention that I am 60 ,not exactly a spring chicken. Working in the pool has been my easiest way, so far, to get exercises in that are painless.. BUT osteoporosis is more prevalent in women, due to menopause. However, men that drink a lot of pop, have a lifetime of nicotine habit are also susceptible to it, but in later age than women who get osteoporosis. I have it, due to very insufficient diet in the postwar years in Germany, milk allergy and that my body does not process Vit.D properly. Those where the years my BMD formed, so to speak 'set the tone' and I now 'pay' the price.. Reason why I broke my hip on a stupid fall on the ice. C-M
